Wasn't the talk of Corey White of Capitol from this last class, playing there, or Trai Turner.

I assume they have a few candidates that could make the switch. We will have to wait and see which guy.

I'm guessing Corey White will be the guy.

sounds to me like Fordham is leaving because of competition.

What competition? We only had 3 guys working at center so far this year in Hebert - a senior, Lonergan - a junior and Fordham - a redshirt freshman...Turner, White, Porter, etc...none of these guys have worked at center yet.

This concerns me, we're going to have to find a center and find him fairly fast for next season to backup Lonergan. Fordham wasn't going to be called upon till he would be a 4th year junior which is what he needed to develop, now we're going to have to rely on a young guy to step in down the road.

Can someone link the thread about getting down to 85? I'm searching but can't find it. I remember seeing it a while back when we were at 91 or so after the NFLD.

Jimmy Ott indicated Elliot Porter is the heir apparent at C after Lonergan leaves

So how bad is this? I know he's only a RS freshman but is that going to mess us up down the line?

I don't think it hurts us. I think Fordham made an assessment of the talent at his position and figured there was no way he could be a starter.I don't think it is any more complicated than that.

Remember, Lonergan was a high school guard who was converted to center. Surely Corey White, Trai Turner or someone else can also be moved to center. LSU's OL recruting has been solid the last few years, so this should not be a big blow.

I read a practice report that had Porter at center with all the freshman
If true what an awesome turn around for EP

Think espin will do a story "outside the lines attrition update: Porter walks on earns scholarship and starts"

Cameron wasn't a center in highschool. Maybe he just doesn't like other guys touching his taint.

Fordham was behind walk-on Ben Domingue anyway.Domingue has been running with the second team at practice and has apparently been doing well.

IMO, the candidates for the back up center spot are Porter, Turner, White with the darkhorse being M. Johnson. (I liked him as an offensive lineman when we got him, but with us not signing a DT this year, I think he stays at DT and redshirts)

What about Chris Davenport?

Bad idea to convert a DL with no experience on the OL to the most important position on the OL that makes all the calls and adjustments.

Porter and his ego doesn't want to take the Greyshirt so he runs off crying to Kentucky, then crawls back homesick to LSU and Miles just takes him back with Nnnnoooooo problem. Hey Elliot, go see the special man. Let him have it.(Roster spot and scholarship)

(No doubt Frank X Baby talked Les into taking Porter back)
