Every fan base wants the backup QB. It's not exclusive to LSU.

I expect Harris to come in and impress, but it's still possible he gets a RS.

I have talked to a few players before and they all agreed based off of practices that Jennings > Rettig.

I wouldn't put too much stock in players opinions... esp after the jj/jlee thing divided the locker room in nattie.

Shiloh, I don't know where you get your info but I've never heard it. With that said, Rettig does have a better arm than Jennings, but the escapability (where was it today though) factor is where the future of qb's is headed and Miles and Cam, imho, are jumping on that train. I do hope it is an open competition though, to just hand over the reigns to Jennings would be a big mistake. He would come out of a fierce competition much better for it.

I don't think anyone was glad to see Mett get hurt and if they were they are pieces of shite.

I do agree that this fan base is infatuated with the next guy up. Who's to say that Harris or rettig comes in and does any better? shite there were people calling for Jennings during the ole miss game.

Why do your type of posters get your rocks off saying this? Talk about played out...

We want the best players at every position every game. Yes we wanted to see Jennings, that is how you tell if they are anywhere near ready. Guess what, we want to see Rettig too..It is clear that Jennings wasnt ready. You could see that thru the obvious high school playbook they were using. Why would it be a sin to give a series or 2 to another guy? The bowl game was a perfect situation to do that.

Why was Rivers 3rd and Rettig 4th then?

tremendous thought, just terrific! the ability to argue semantics or names instead of the point....yes, River should have absolutely got a series.

It's a bowl game and we have no proven starter, why is it absurd to think another guy might get a few plays

It will be between Jennings and Harris IMO

based on what? I'd trust a QB from Cali over a QB from GA or LA any day. California puts out some great QBs.

We either need an accurate passer
or a
Dynamic QB that can make plays in a number of different ways.

Open Competition in my eyes.

Third place in the West is no fun. You keep looking until you find the right one. That's the only course of action to take unless you want to keep finishing third in SECW.

To be fair, we were all kind of expecting a better performance after what he did against R-Kansas with a month to practice. Maybe our expectations were too high, but it would nice if LSU could find that one guy who was special as a young player like Manzeil or FSU's QB...though they were both redshirt guys and Jennings is a true freshman

Jennings is not comfortable in the pocket....he bounces his feet and thus why accuracy is an issue.

Cam is likely going to have to figure out how to get this kid more comfortable...or adjust his offense scheme

We are a route running/ timing pro style offense

Mett was awesome with his big arm and 4 years of development in Cam's offense.

Jennings really struggled in the pocket, reading the defense and know where he wanted to go with the ball..

I see him using his feet much more and hopefully the coaches let him roll out more to by time and see the field for a longer period

Why do you assume Rettig isn't mobile? Is it because he's white? I thought, in spite of shredding his knee his junior year in HS, he actually can run?
