he was referring to the last BCS championship game between Auburn (Nic Marshall) and Florida State (Winston). You shouldn't be laughing at anyone...
Im laughing because he called Winston a dual threat QB. Winston runs only if he absoultely has too, and when he does, it isnt fast. I guess Tom Brady and Brees are dual threats too. But let me guess, Brees and Brady have something in common that Winston doesnt. Hmmmmmm

I still haven't seen Q Leslie drop a catchable ball. Nice soft hands.

How many schools have had consecutive "great" QBs? Texas,UGA & SC are the only schools that come to mind.

Just off the top of my head:
Oklahoma (before the Belldozer they had several good QB)
Arkansas
West Virginia
Florida State

And then there's Texas Tech who had 3 diff. Freshman QB last year and a walk-on Freshman to start the season and those guys did great.
Don't act like LSU is just like every other school when it comes to QB's the last 4-5 years. We have struggled developing QB's and that's why everyone is so nervous.

But I think we will be ok. Sure we will start off ultra conservative (as we should) to protect our young QB, whoever it is. But by the end of the season I think we will be rolling. With Magee & BUGA toting the rock behind a dominant Oline and the schedule we have next year I think we have the potential for a SECCG appearance (and probably a win if we make it there). Remember that Bama, aTm and Georgia are all breaking in a new QB next year.

from tiger rag's practice report from yesterday...

quote:

The quarterbacks and receivers did eventually move into their usual route tree. Freshman quarterback Brandon Harris is still a step behind the others while he picks up the nuances of Cameron's system, but he showed off some serious skill with his arm.

With LSU receivers running vertical routes downfield and Cameron urging his quarterbacks to throw the ball as hard as they can into a pretty stiff wind, Harris dropped a few beautiful bombs on the money. Hayden Rettig also showed off his arm with a few nice throws as well, a couple of which drew some praise from Cameron.

Based strictly on watching those throws and not having the benefit of watching the quarterbacks work against a live defense, it's pretty clear that Jennings' arm is not at Harris' or Rettig's level. But there are a lot more things that go into being a quarterback. The spring game should provide an example of how he's progressed as far as leading an offense is concerned.

if you don't amaze the shite out of me in your first career start on a wet field against a good defense, bring on the next guy. Jennings doesn't have "it".

The Iowa pass D ranked #6 and the Iowa total D ranked #7 in college football.

It's amazing the conclusions some can come up with via. watching a couple mins of a passing drill that requires nothing more than a 3 step drop and throw to a pre-set R with no D on the field. lol

I'll go with whoever Cam and Miles picks at the starter. I'm pretty sure their evaluation is a 100 times more valid than mine or anyone else posting on this forum.

I've been hearing "we fricked" bout the O or D or coaching or something for over a decade, but for the last 11 yrs we have more wins than any other program accept for BSU and they don't count. imo

Seems someone is doing something right in the LSU football program.

I'd love it. However, based on the Iowa game.....no.

I'll take the Iowa game over Rohan's first start vs. Auburn

And honestly, there was nothing in that video that would make me panic about spring drills. What is wrong with people here?

Too high of expectations. LSU will struggle a bit on offense this year, most folks knew that.

In the past few years, people have gotten too excited watching QB's in spring practice.

It's painfully obvious that most the posters in this thread never played football past 6th grade. Drills never look all that spectacular in the spring, and coaches love it. Some of the best seasons I was a part of started with being told by our coaches we'd be lucky to win a single game.

I absolutely love Cam's attitude. He wasn't disrespectful. Just letting the guys know that if they can't perfect a 10 yard slant, he can't trust them to do anything else. I love that he wants perfection in the little things. Makes me excited to see how these QBs look in the fall and 2-3 years from now.

We have a frickin' awesome offensive coach who wants even the simplest things done perfect. I'm glad he isn't letting the guys skate by and just go through the motions.

last three games?
Arkansas, Georgia, and Alabama.
Arkansas: LSU put up 494 total offensive yards.
Georgia: LSU struggled in the first half but put it together for 290+ yards and totaled 35 second half points.
Yes against Alabama it was not good but half of that was coaching.

I have yet to see a video of spring practice that gives any indication of the team's progress. Some people both praise cam at the same time try to compare qbs. It will get worked out, and we will be good this year.

If we start a true fresh at qb, we will likely lose some games bc of it. Same morons calling for harris will be the first to crucify him and get into his head.

OMG does this video mean we've finally hit the #tDecline?

What about #tFullDecline?

I'm so confused.

Yep, you failed to have any foresight just like our coaches then. If one couldnt see our offense sucked against arky and uga, then one doesnt have a clue

Look, you can roll your eyes all you want. I dont hate our coaches. I think they are great. But it was painfully obvious that our offense was completely broken against arky and uga. Leading up to the 2nd bama game, we should have realized it. We didnt, mistakes happen. No big deal

When you reach a certain point in the season, you are what you are. You can "realize" it until you are blue in the face.
