If the offense looks as bad as the last few years, I say we just punt immediately and hope the defense scores.

"Let's be realistic here guys. We probably won't do much trying to move the ball. I figure let's play the probabilities. Chances are better our D can get a TO and maybe get a good run up the field before getting tackled. If we're lucky, we can just knock it through for a FG from there, that way we don't have to risk one of you guys doing something untoward with the ball on offense."

This is the logical answer. But I think it'll be straight up the middle on a HB dive.

Another thought: Do D1 teams ever run an old-school trap play anymore?

Three step drop and quick pass from Burrow to Giles.

The Miami game to feature many quick throws with our vertical passing game to come in the following weeks.

Wide receiver screen pass to Giles to get the passing game rollin. Give Burrow some confidence.

It is when you don’t even know what the new offense is.

Baw

And read the title again. I know you’re new, but we don’t do this thread until August.

Shotgun, one back to the right; TE on right, 2 WRs on the right, 1 WR on the left. WR on left goes in motion and overloads the right side.

Delayed draw to the RB to the left. Tackled in the backfield for -2 yards.

The real answer here is a called run with a pre snap pass tag built in. Unless you’re trying to make a statement, that’s the most common first P & 10 out there.
