I remember Morton Anderson pleading with Jim Mora in a very similar situation, 65 yards IIRC. He was too much of a dick to let him try. Saints punted the ball instead.

Slightly better? It would have to be 133% more likely in order to justify kicking the field goal, because the FG only gives you three points, while the Hail Mary gives you seven.
