Do you guys think we should change this moving forward? Doesn’t seem to make sense for us or Bama to waste a bye week in this spot. Give us the week off before a game we actually have a chance to be competitive. And for Bama, the LSU offense is one of the easiest on their schedule to scheme against so their bye week could be better utilized elsewhere.

As long as we're stuck with this passive, Les Miles type of PHILOSOPHY on offense, the bye week really makes no difference.

Bama always looks so good against us because of the bye, not in spite of it. It may not seem like it, but Saban knows that LSU is one of the few legitimate threats they face every year. Saban is not stupid.

As long as Bama continues to schedule their bye before the LSU matchup, we should as well.

I think one of many reasons why our offense struggles against Bama compared to other teams is that they have the bye before us. Giving Saban 2 weeks to gameplan against our offense is a HUGE disadvantage for us. I think it would benefit and help our chances much more against Bama if neither team had a bye before.

I’d love for us to mix it up. No bye week and a 2:30 cbs game instead of 7

I believe it was Ruffin Rodrigue who said that the two weeks off before the game allowed the game to be so hyped up that when it came time to play the game our players were exhausted. Maybe. Alabama still has just about every high school player they want.

I agree that LSU needs to stop with the bye week before Alabama. Before or after would be more beneficial to LSU. Get the team in focus and keep them there for that game.

Ive been hoping we can find a way to move the auburn game back (hoping that them moving the UGA game UP will help that) and then we take the bye week before Auburn rather than Bama....I don't care when Bama takes theirs. The two week buildup for the team, fans and media definitely has not helped LSU

There are alot of factors that contribute to this and them having their bye week certainly helps. Saban wants to beat LSU bad, really bad. There's a history there and don't believe any word he says to the contrary when he says it's "just another game" for him. He goes head to hear with LSU for alot of recruits and alot of those recruits are in this state. Look how much of that roster is made up from Louisiana kids. Those kids didnt grow up in Alabama, they didn't grow up feeling the Iron Bowl pressure. I can promise you, to kids like Buggs and Moses, etc the LSU game means more to them than the Auburn game. Saban won't want you to believe it and yes, in the end it comes down to winning the west and the SEC but beating LSU just means more to them than beating everyone else on that schedule except for Auburn and I would argue that for some, beating LSU means more than Auburn. LSU gets their best effort year after year and the factors that play into that are numerous.

Alabama won’t stop if LSU does. They would have fresh legs and healed bodies, plus the best coach in CFB would have an extra week to prepare. You guys are grasping.

My hunch is the best way to beat Alabama is to actually field a team that is better than theirs. They are too deep with too much talent and it won’t end soon.

I posted about this a few weeks ago. LSU rarely played Bama after a bye before Saban went to Alabama. He has the SEC office in the hip pocket. And as long as the SEC scheduling department still has a hand in how the seasons games lay out, they will give Bama a bye before LSU every single year. It’s bullshite and LSU has complained about it to no avail.

Agreed. Saban is a master of preparation. It's his biggest strength as a coach (aside from recruiting). Giving him 2 weeks to prepare for such a simplistic, predictable offense just isn't even fair. That's why it always seems like there's 3 defenders waiting for whomever is carrying the ball.

Now, if we were to do something innovative, like, I don't know, use that 2 weeks to install different plays and looks that he hasn't seen yet, we might be able to keep it competitive. But it's always the exact same shite with the exact same level of impotence that we ran the entire season leading up to the game. The only way to beat him is to catch him off guard.

Right. Which is why I would like to see us play them early in the season before they have so much film to analyze about our players and coaches tendencies and weaknesses. It would be more of a "going in blind" scenario for Alabama and it might give us an edge. We need every edge we can get. That is how Saban goes in to his games. Get every edge you can.

I'd rather play Bama in our first SEC game of the year.

As it stands we always get them after they have fully acclimated all new players into the system, they get the BYE to prepare for us (we do too, but we seem to use it to overthink and psyche ourselves out), and it puts a damper on the end of the season if/when we lose.

If we lost to Bama early in the season, there is still plenty of time to build up our ranking and confidence before the end of the year. I bet we wouldn't get stinkers against Arkansas and TAMU any more.

It was LSU under Miles who first started putting a bye week prior to the Bama game. It took Bama several years later to realize that they should do the same....and we haven't won a game since then.

Much rather play Rice or someone like that prior to Bama and have he bye after them at this point. Win or lose, the game after Bama is an uphill battle
