Certainly. You're just limited in the routes he's capable of running. He's basically only able to go out in the flat.

I'd be curious what the average rushing yards were gained in the red zone. I suspect that the poor running game inside the rz affected the passing game, as well as the difficulties protecting the passer. Also, i saw a coaches comment that although JB could handle audibles, not all of the other players could. Skill in executing audibles is very important in the redzone, which is the most difficult place for an offens to gain yards.

All that being said JB did make some bad plays in the rz.

Do other teams with elite kickers have these issues? This just feels like such a copout response. Inside the 20 is close enough that you should be aggressively trying to get the TD.

This board goes out of their way to invent reasons why Burrow is really good.

He was not good this season, very mediocre/below average.

Realistically, I think the best we can hope for next season from Burrow is to be an average QB. I'll take that in a heartbeat.

And young WR’s prolly has something to do with this.

There's a ton of factors, all already mentioned but there's that, not having the explosive/elite RBs like we usually do, play calling is meh. All are true IMO. But also true is our QB just wasn't very good last season.

From what I’ve seen, Burrow has bad placement on the jump ball to our taller receivers in the red zone.

This is not hard to figure out

-Sub-par O-line play allowed the run to get stuffed

-Small receivers for the most part displayed a lack of ability to get separation from tight press coverage. Big receivers haven't seemed to be able to get separation for the fade/jump ball.

-Lack of any sort of short/quick hitting passing game, slant, slip/tunnel screens

As an earlier poster said, we get down there, get stuffed on 1st/2nd down, everybody in the stadium knows what's coming on 3rd down, JB generally gets flushed because the line can't protect.

As in just about every other area, it's a combination of trying to run the scheme we want to run with players that generally weren't quite good enough to make it really work. How do you fix that? Adjust your scheme to adjust for player faults or get the players to play better so the things you want to do work better.

Isn’t the point of jump balls with tall WR that the CB can be right there.

We just didn’t run them in the Redzons with any frequency.

IDK, phrase it however you like, our big receivers haven't displayed a talent for exploiting what should be a big advantage. It could be argued that the coaching staff/playcallers haven't run it in the RZ with frequency because they realize our guys aren't any good at it at this point. Chicken/egg???
