Agreed. I was also shocked Pearson didn’t lay out for one in the 9th or 10th.

Please tell me you aren't talking about the one that tied the game. Pearson was playing deep and that ball landed 20 feet in front of him. The camera angle when behind home plate can be very deceiving on balls hit to the OF.

For me it was Brown not going after that ball in tge 1st inning, he catches that, we win.
those floaters that just hang in the air are just a bad as a piss missile drilled right at an outfielder. He charges that ball and it keeps carrying then it’s over his head rolling to the wall and the batter has a standup triple. he did the right thing keeping it in front of him and he was probably still hesitant from that same type of hit he got burned on in Hoover where he did charge it.

Super man couldn’t have dove and caught that ball

The issue is that we sacrifice defense to get their bats in the lineup.

And that blanket statement applies to almost all of our OF options.

Pearson's back was against the wall, probably b/c it needed to be. Normal depth for a natural OF probably catches that ball.

Brown had 2 plays that were very makeable for an average SEC OF

Larson misplayed one the other night. We've seen Bingham look lost out there too

I feel like Jay did the best with what he had to work with, but was definitely behind the 8 ball given the roster. I have no doubt he's been working on that for months already. The man is very well aware of the situation. He is in charge of every detail of his program.

I've been told by the agent that handles all of LSU athletics NIL that Jay is the most involved in all sports and all schools.

To me it looked like he was tracking it but got distracted by the wall. I would be having him catching balls over and over again at the wall until he was all bruised up.
That was ridiculous. UNC made all the plays, we didn't. I also think Jump was the wrong choice. I would have gone with Guidry to close it out.

It definitely should've been caught. The only thing i can think is the trajectory, which was lower than a fly ball, had it in the lights for a longer period of time. I think the look down was him knowing he lost it and he was protecting his face. I feel bad for the guy and won't blame him for the loss. There were other opportunities to win.

I agree on all this. Again, neither play was easy. Even that first line drive was hit hard right at him and sometimes those balls keep carrying over your head. It happened to him in the SECT when he thought it was going to fall in front of him. You can just tell he doesn’t have a good feel on tracking balls down tho. Guys who are more natural in the outfield like Kling and Pearson just get better jumps on those types of balls.

Maybe if he gets a whole offseason focusing on OF, he can make strides there, but his defense cost us several runs throughout the year. CF is a premium position that can really impact the game.

I didn't see the play but what absolutely throttled LSU was the 0 for White, Milan, Braz....that 0 came at a bad time but the absence of that 0 got LSU to that point last night

If you lose the ball in the lights it can make it extremely difficult to catch depending on the path of the ball. If you've played outfield at night before you would know this. He was in position to make the play but looked like he lost the ball in the lights right before it came down. If that's the case then that would explain it. Would love to hear what he saw.

Why are some people acting like if he catches the ball , we win? Our inability to hit the ball last night was why we lost
