He also mentioned an obvious point; while the QB position is strong now, if Max gets named starter Myles might transfer and vise versa.

Given last year didn't count against his elgibility, MAx could conceiveably RS this year if Brennan is named starter and still have 4 years left to play. It wouldn't make any sense for him to transfer after fall practice. He'd be sitting out this season regardless, and Myles will be gone after this season regardless. Brennan would be more likely to transfer if he's not named starter but that wouldn't be a guarantee either

I'm sure this is highly paraphrased because no coach is going to say this.

Every year we hear these dumb "anonymous" coach quotes that no one can verify.

Best player plays

If that hurts feelings, so be it.

Yes. Basically Brody heard from two SEC coaches that they would rather face Brennan than Max.

I know it sounds chicken little, but I'm scared if Max Johnson wins the job, it scares away Howard (and potentially Nuss).

If Johnson holds down the starting spot at LSU the next two season, he's going pro. If he's not good enough to go pro after the next two seasons, he's getting beat out by Howard year 2.

You're crazy.

If Max starts in 2021, LSU will make a Championship run in 2022, then Max heads off to the NFL after his junior season.

Which means, Nussmeier should be the starter his redshirt sophomore year. He plays his redshirt sophomore year and his redshirt junior year and then heads off to the NFL.

Then Howard is the starter his redshirt sophomore year and he plays his redshirt sophomore year and redshirt junior year then heads off to the NFL.

Then Arch Manning is the starter his redshirt sophomore year and he plays his redshirt sophomore year and redshirt junior year then heads off to the NFL.

Max gives you the best chance to beat Bama IMO due to his mobility.

No LSU team has beaten a Saban led Alabama team without some mobility. Even the game of the century took Jefferson coming in to win that game.

No...I do not consider Myles very mobile or a threat to run.

so did mizzou who had several walk ons playing and state. Third down conversations were horrendous

I didnt Say Brennan played any good defenses, although out of the 5 games they started Miss State had the best defense.

I will say this, people can go on and on about 3rd down in the Missouri game, but the only third down in a drive that matters is the last one. We also had 20 1st downs vs Missouri vs 24 vs Florida. The offense also had 479 yards vs Missouri and 418 vs Florida. So it’s not like Brennan wasn’t moving the ball.

Brennen was 0/10 on 3rd against Missouri.

But is that any worse than being 8/18 against Florida?

If you look at the games they had the same #of drives too. We actually punted more Vs Florida and scored less TDS.

We were way more explosive on offense averaging over 3 yards more a play. Which is a lot.

Now I’ll throw this out there, I don’t Blame either of them. I think Our play calling was fricking terrible all year, and if we could run a QB sneak on 3rd and short we had a lot of trouble converting 3rd downs.

Max won't transfer. Not happening. Go check out his father's history at Florida State.

They aren't quitters.

His brother committing signaled that they are all in regardless.

I hope you are right but if he does, we have far more to lose. Not only Max but Jake as well.

who you want behind you if a fight breaks out ? Max or Myles ?

Whoever you choose should also be your starting qb

for me, that's Max

With that logic, let’s go with Finley then... he could take either one of those guys with a hand behind his back.

The simple fact is no matter who wins now that we have used our last spot on Major Burns means we will play this season with only 2 scholarship QB on the roster. Max isn’t staying if Myles wins because he sees Nussmeier is going to be a threat and then you have Walker Howard who everyone believes will start sooner than later. The only real choice is to start Max because he’s got more eligibility and upside. I like Myles and wish it could have worked last year and he didn’t get hurt but I think he will still have success as a starting QB this season somewhere. He would be good in Mike Leach’s air raid at MS State.

Even if MJ was/is massively ahead in the QB battle, we desperately need both to be on our roster come September so it wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense to anoint Max this early

This seems to be the Avenue that fans think the team will take

Y’all are going to be disappointed if so.

How stupid do y’all think Myles is

I think Brennan has to be very comfortable with his position or he’d be gone by now.

Either he is confident he’ll win it or the coaches are just lying to him wel enough.
