Some guys get to the NFL & still don't understand these things. You're too quick to forget the terrible leadership that Boutte had to deal with his first 2 years at LSU. Coach O, Mickey Joseph, the 2 "leaders" in the WR room when he got here didn't stay (Chase/Marshall). It's a big culture change & I'm going to take it as a positive that he's been engaged this spring and being around Brian Kelly, Denbrock, & Cortez Hankton.

He will make decisions based on what the people around him are telling him.

That's one of the big issues with NIL and the transfer portal. Handlers will benefit more than kids.

Not at all. Only when the noise from the bama side became too loud and he had to address it.

Somebody knew about it and got Gordon involved. If Boutte really wanted to leave he’d be gone.

We came up with the money, that's the only reason he is here.

It's such a refreshing sense to finally get a coach who puts discipline, responsibility, and accountability high on the list. Polar opposites to our last 2 coaches who let players walk all over them with cancer culture.

Correct. These youngsters have the wrong people in their ears. Handlers are only interested in themselves. The elite will be nothing but semi pro mercenaries. No loyalty, no team concept. Just go to the highest bidder. For 18-22 year olds, that's going to be a huge mess. These kids don't care about college, or LSU.

Agreed, and it really sucks seeing the sport we love come to this. It also sucks that we’re forced to re-recruit elite players every offseason until something changes. It’s happening all over the country, though. Bama got Burton to transfer from UGA.

I'm not going to excuse that specifically but I can tell you Boutte was one of the few players last year who gave everything 200%. Look what happened to him. He was giving 200% in a game we were getting killed in and then he gets that gruesome injury. I can see his perspective on possibly wanting to leave when the guys around him didn't exactly care especially when money is involved.

Didn't Boutte have a second surgery a few weeks ago? I think the bigger question is will he make it through this season?

He's a 1st rd talent, but it's a competitive year for wr next year. Probably 6-7 guys that could go in the 1st. I agree that he needs to have a big year if he wants to go top 5 or 10.

It will make the sport more like the NBA. Personality driven.

I loathe that shite.

You could look at it that way. You could also say that we finally woke up, got our heads out of our asses, and started playing the same game Bama is playing.

I do. Because that's 100% what happened.

Bama thought they had a package in place, Gordon beat it.

I'd rather see LSU football lose three or four games with a bunch of athletes that want to be at LSU.

Yep, if NIL and the portal isn't reigned in, college football will lose a lot of fans. The only thing that will save it will be gambling, but people will stop attending games.

I’ll just say for me personally it’s hard to stay engaged when your physically involved. I can understand how it could get pretty lonely on that training table…

Unfortunately, the way things are going, he won’t be the last player we have to pay to not transfer.

Accountability, self motivation, and leadership aren't natural traits for everyone. Boutte may not be a natural leader, and that's fine. Maybe he lacked examples of leadership and accountability and Brian Kelly showed him those things.

If he's bought in, great. If he's not, then he's really only hurting himself. LSU will be better with him, but fine without him.

True, which is turning a lot of people off of the game.

Is it though? If LSU is in the hunt this year would y’all feel the same way?
