Brewers "Timeless Tickets" controversy

In 2015, the Brewers held a promotion selling "Timeless Tickets". 1000 fans were given the opportunity to pay $1000 for tickets that would be good for any game, regular or post season, for the best available seat.
Now, however, the Brewers are limiting those tickets to standing room or level 4 terrace, not best available. Some of these seats have prices less than the $1000 that was paid a decade ago.
Seems like a bad way to treat some of your best fans.

Brewers 'Timeless Ticket' holders say the team isn't fully honoring deal for World Series seats
Kevin and Kyle Deaton say they were stunned when they saw the seating options made available to Timeless Ticket holders last week: terrace level seats or standing room only, priced at or below what the two brothers paid for their tickets in 2015.
MILWAUKEE — Two Kenosha brothers who paid $1,000 each for a Milwaukee Brewers "Timeless Ticket" more than a decade ago say the team isn't fully honoring the promise that came with it — the chance to sit in the best available seats for a game as big as the World Series.
Kevin and Kyle Deaton say they were stunned when they saw the seating options made available to Timeless Ticket holders last week: terrace level seats or standing room only, priced at or below what the two brothers paid for their tickets in 2015.
The tickets, according to the information card, "may be redeemed for the best available seat locations, subject to ticket availability at the time of redemption." The brothers argue the Brewers aren't living up to that language.
“When you promise somebody the best seat available, and you give them pretty much the worst seats that you have in the whole stadium, I would say, no. They're not honoring it," Kyle Deaton said.
The Timeless Ticket was offered more than a decade ago, when the Brewers sold 1,000 of them to fans for $1,000 each. Each ticket is redeemable for any game — including this World Series.
"We're actively looking at the sites, and it's kind of remarkable to watch the pricing go up and the kind of the mania, but 10 years ago or 11 years ago I was like I won't have to deal with that," Kevin said.
Kevin and Kyle knew all along they would patiently wait for the perfect time to use them — a World Series in Milwaukee.
"I wasn't envisioning, hey, we're going to get front row. But certainly first ten rows," Kevin Deaton said. "Which is why I refused. Out of principle, I'm not even going to go.”
Hopes of sitting close to the action, like the seats they saw when it was time for season ticket holders to buy, quickly turned to frustration after they read the Timeless Ticket order form that outlined their options.
"This has to be a mistake. It's terrace level; that's level four. That's not the best available seat. And she said, yeah, I'm not going to argue that there's better seats available. This is what's being allocated to the 'Timeless Ticket' holders," Kyle said.
TMJ4 reached out to the Milwaukee Brewers Monday morning to request an interview on Monday morning about Timeless Ticket seating options. We have yet to hear back.
"I don't know what they could do to make this right for us," Kyle said. "They've had 1,000 people for 11 years that they knew they had to take care of if they ever got to the World Series. So, their solution or their rules of redemption, they made that up.”
Kyle and Kevin say they're still rooting for the Brewers to win it all, but they plan to do so at home unless the team comes back with a better offer.

That’s fricked up on the brewers part

Need to stick it to the Brewers on this one
Bad taste and PR move and they had better make it right.

That’s insane. How in the world did they think that could possibly work? At the time, they must have been hurting for some cash flow and some media buzz.

I'm guessing the Brewers will quickly give in to social media pressures on this one.
As they should. Total bullshite.

It is, but I see a path out of this for them. They can probably argue that all of the good seats had been accounted for by people who signed up for the option of buying post season tickets , which teams start to offer before the post season even starts. Therefore, "Best Available" at this point probably actually is terrace level or SRO.
Should they have had a plan in place for this ahead of time? Yes. But since they didn't, I think it just kinda is what it is at this point.

I mean, the "good seats" were already purchased by other people. By the letter of the law, the Brewers are not wrong at this moment.
They should have accounted for this when they put World Series tickets for sale a month ago.

Karma spares no one. If they lose, I’m blaming it on this

Depending on how many of those tickets are still out there to be redeemed, the Brewers could save face and put the two guys in the owner’s box. That would be some good PR.

According to the brothers, the ticket office told them better seats were available in lower sections, but this was the only section set aside for the Timeless Ticket holders.

Ok...if this is true, the the Brewers can frick right off. I missed this detail eariler.

I hope the Brewers will make this right. These fans should be rewarded and this thing should be a big PR win. Give them access to the field pre-game, ayce. They don't have to put them right behind home plate but there are some pretty easy things they can do to show appreciation while not putting them in SRO.

Wow you went from your statements all being qualifiers to really being sure of yourself quickly. Great job

Yeah, depending on how many people made that initial purchase, I'm certain there is a way to make it right
Even something as simple as being allowed on the field for BP prior to gates opening before one of the at least 2 home games.
I know that would suffice for me.

They should be able to easily accommodate these people

Would it really have been that difficult to do a priority system?
They sold 1,000 of these timeless tickets and each ticket allowed up to 3 additional tickets at face value, so worst case scenario, it is 4,000 tickets for a single game in a 41,000+ seat stadium.
Google says Brewers have 14,400 season ticket holders.
Season ticket holders could have gotten their assigned seats and then additional sales could have gone by priority:
1st priority - Longstanding season ticket holders that have had tickets since before October 2014 (start of Timeless Ticket promotion)
2nd priority - Timeless Ticket holders
3rd priority - Season ticket holders that purchased and held season tickets since the end of the Timeless Ticket promotion
4th priority - General Public
