The most concerning for me is his pocket presence. If you cant command yourself in the pocket and not fold when you see defenders closing in, what can you do...

Please football Jesus touch him now

Orgeron also mentioned Russ Callaway, an analyst that helped develop Duck Hodges at Samford. He is another fiery young gun that could have an immediate impact on this offense, especially QBs. I'm sure Brennan is getting all the attention he needs to excel.

These are all things that came natural to Joe but unfortunately seems to not come so easy to Myles.

Maybe the suggestions that Chase left because he saw what could be werent so far off base.

Going to be tough to follow the GOAT but I got faith in Myles. Probably by the third game he will hit his stride.

Myles has been in the system for 3 years now. So if these issue O mentioned are real problems then I guess it cause to be concerned.

I always love the boards wild emotional swings.

5 days ago Brennan was a "dark horse" Heisman candidate. Today, there is concern he won't even be able to complete a pass.

All that stuff O mentioned can become better with experience. But experience is not something gained simply by watching or sitting in the meeting room with the starting QB. You have to play, and Brennan hasn't taken a meaningful snap at LSU in 2 years.

He's probably also hurt by the fact he will INEVITABLY be compared to Burrow. That's just human nature. So everything O mention are things that Burrow excelled at. Hell, he excelled at those things last season at maybe the highest level in college football history. Brennan may not be performing poorly at all relative to the rest of college football. It just looks far worse when compared to Burrow. And after watching a master class in those areas last season it could be a bit tough for coaches to lower their expectations. Again, human nature.

Anyone who thought/thinks this offense is going to run as efficiently as last year simply because the OC (in name) is back along with a QB who was in the meeting room with Burrow was/is delusional. Burrow was remarkable at making quick decisions and turning potential bad plays into huge plays. shite, he got his OL named as the best OL in the nation despite the fact that from a statistical/metric standpoint they were really just above-average. Last year was the best season by a QB in school history and there isn't even a close second.

That said, there is no reason to think LSU can't still have an offense good enough to win most games The reason is although Brennan isn't Burrow, the OVERALL philosophy/approach changed last season. It changed to one designed to score points in bunches with no fear of risk from one who's entire approach was simply not to frick up.

Problem with this year is we start and finish with SEC teams no more cupcakes. Myles will feel the heat early and often we will see what he's made of early. My expectations are high but let's not expect him to be Joe Burrow. He has been here 3 years but not with that much playing time other than some clean up duties.

He doesn't want him getting complacent.

But he has never taken a meaningful stat while at LSU,

This is not exactly true. He had meaningful snaps his first year. The games were still on the line vs Syracuse and Troy when he was in.

He’s a huge question mark. No one is going to replace Burrow and it’s unfair to expect it for Brennan. I think we’ll know very quickly whether he has the goods,

This. Everyone needs to chill reading O comments. If he came out and said “ Myles doesn’t really need to work on anything because he’s the next Burrow” we would all call bullshite. It’s just a coach talking to his players through the media.

That sounds like a lot of key things to improve.

Came natural as a 2nd year post grad starter. Just to be accurate.

The fact is we got spoiled with Burrow. Guys with his innate ability to feel pressure and see the field come around once in a blue moon. If we expect the same from Myles everyone is going to be disappointed and Myles has lost before he’s begun. This doesn’t mean he won’t be good just not Joe. I’d say he’s somewhere under Joe and above Mettenberger which is still pretty damn good.

He's a JR, not a freshman. He has played in games. It's not like this stuff is completely new to him. If he needs that much improvement on key things why shouldn't we be concerned?

So what's he excelling at? Catching the snap?

I think you're missing that just because O says he needs to improve on certain things doesn't mean he's not playing well. Of course we should be concerned. Honestly, I think there may be too much optimism right now and there are legitimate concerns that a lot of our fans seem to be shrugging off.

A coach needs to motivate the player to keep working, so I'm not that alarmed.
We'll just have to wait and see how it goes against MS St

That and comparing him to Burrow. O watched possibly the greatest college QB of all time for two years. Things may seem a touch slower and still be really, really good. Time will tell

Dam 2 reads and bail guy ....i hope he has the wherewithal to go through the process ,but it’ll really come down to the time he’s allowed in the pocket vs the offensive lines growth .
