Nuss has game experience. He played in 4 games last year which is why he didn’t want to play in the meaningless bowl game because it would have burned his redshirt. Also Brennan isn’t a statue back there just because he’s a pocket passer. We haven’t seen enough of him to really call him that. Drew Bledsoe, Troy Aikman, Byron Leftwich, Tom Brady, Brad Johnson and Peyton Manning were all statues in the pocket in the true sense of the word but were good players. You don’t have to be the most mobile of you know how to get the ball to your playmakers. Whoever proves they can do this the best and take care of the football will win the job. Right now even the coaches don’t know. I think it ends being Myles to start but that could change if he doesn’t control the offense and use his arm to get the ball down the field.

I don’t think Daniels could hit water while in a row boat in the middle of the gulf.

Seems like nobody watched the spring game.

Why do you put so much stock into the spring game?

I think either Myles or Nuss will start and Daniels will have certain packages, but that’s just a guess because I don’t have any inside info, just like 99% of this board. Fact of the matter is that we haven’t seen Myles play in a long time, Nuss has only played in 4 total games, and I doubt many people on here have watched many Arizona State games.

Lol frickin plebs on this board I swear. Nuss wanted his redshirt to remain intact for a reason when people were clamoring for him to burn it in the bowl game vs KS State. He knew there was a chance he'd be a backup again this year and gaining more experience. I think iron will sharpen iron this year and next and we'll retain them. As much shite as you're catching for it, I'd love to see us lineup with Brennan in shotgun, Daniel's beside him and Boutte on the other side just to see the other sideline waste a TO or give up a 50 yard bomb to Nabers with Daniel's taking the hook and ladder to the hizzy. Speed kills baws. We're gonna have a shite ton of speed and strength on offense this year. Or have Emery on the other side of Brennan and Boutte hooks it to Emery. Either way, it's gonna be Flynn/Perrilloux X2022: Hats Gone, Pants Gone. Ill Will Campbell takes us into halftime with his 3rd rushing td from scrimmage. Saban has no answer, retires at halftime.

The spring game is a clunky scrimmage. We have seen Brennan play against SEC competition in real games. Daniels has started 29 career games. Why people value 4 non consecutive drives in a practice over the real games is mind boggling.

As a grad of ASU, I've watched Daniels a good bit the last few years. A lot of times it's feast or famine with him. I've seen him miss wide-open WR's for TD's, but then he'll crack-off a 70 yard TD run. I think he has the tools to be good, and getting him on a much better overall offense might help him excel, but I'm not wanting to ride with him game 1.

I don’t mean to disrespect Daniels as a player. Just don’t have faith in a running QB if he isn’t accurate. Maybe he will be. Maybe all this talk about him not being accurate is overblown. Might be a little streaky. I know he completed at a clip of 60%, 58%, and 65% his last year at ASU where he threw 10 tds and 10 pics. I don’t know anything about that offense but I like that 65% completion rate.

People act as if all he does is run. He has thrown for 5 times as many yards as he has rushed for. People just bring up his running ability because it is way more than just a QB that can run, he has wide receiver speed. Also that opens up the pass, look at Nick Marshall in college. Defenses had to respect his run so much that they were forced to leave receivers in 1 on 1 coverage.

He has also declined in performance every year. Freshman year was best. Sophomore year was 2nd best…so on….

Can’t really count 2020. They only played like 4 games and had crazy Covid restrictions, cancelled games on a whim etc. He had a down year last year as compared to his freshman campaign, that’s really all one can say.

Nearly 25% of his completions were to his running back. He got credit for a number of passes that were really just late tosses on a roll out.

So did Miles Brennan.

2020
3 games: Brennan - 1,112 yards: 11 TD’s: 3 INT’s
4 games: Daniels - 701 yards: 5TD’s: 1INT.

Daniels also had 220 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. Either way it doesn’t matter, point is, you can’t say he regressed each season, when one of the “seasons” was 4 games in a completely Covid crazed Pac 12.

Not only does that scenario suck royally but if Brennan is named the starter after the showing in all 15 spring practices and in the spring game that Nuss had, he is going to hit the transfer portal so fast it will make Brian Kelly's head spin. It would not only be a major miscalculation but it would also be piss poor roster management on a monumental level. As LSU would only have a redshirt freshman QB on the team with zero experiences going into the 2023 season.

I mean, if all three QBs are extremely close in talent and as Brian Kelly wants everybody to foolishly believe, then since it doesn't really matter all that much who the starter is, common-sense dictates you start Nuss because LSU will need Nuss for the next two or three seasons. Meanwhile, both Daniels and Brennan are history as soon as the season ends.

Meanwhile, if Nuss is not named the starter, he's going to inevitably fly the coop ASAP. Indeed, he'd be incredibly stupid to stick around.

And never mind the fact that none of that even matters. As the only thing that matter to Brian Kelly is who won the QB competition in the 15 spring practices and in the spring game, and that dude was Nussmeier.

You sound so confident. I’ll go with Myles Brennan starts and Nuss takes over by game 4. He loses only 1 game and that is to Bama. Daniels is a spot player and mop up. He considers transferring but doesn’t in hopes of winning spring. Nuss wins spring and Daniels moves on. LSU signs a QB in the off season from the portal.

He can't transfer again. It sounded better in your head though right.

except Brian Kelly is enamored with Nuss. Go read everything he has said about his talent being off the charts. If Nuss doesn’t play this year he will be the starter next after a year in his system.

No, not quite. If Nuss isn't named the starter in the fall he will inevitably hit the transfer portal so fast that it will make Brian Kelly's head spin.

Nuss will stay if he has a legitimate chance to start. The young man loves it here.

He'll stay if named the starter. However, if he is not named the starter, he'll inevitably transfer so fast that it will make Brian Kelly's head spin and in which means, LsU will have only one redshirt freshman QB with zero experience going into the 2023 season.

He can’t. The window is closed for this year as he is not a grad transfer.

Nuss can transfer anytime he wants. However, he is not eligible to play in 2022. Which is no big deal because if he is not named starter in the fall, then he isn't starting at LSU in 2022 in any event.

In other words, if Nuss doesn't get the starting job in the fall, he'll hit the transfer portal so fast that it will make Brian Kelly's head spin and I won't blame him one iota. In fact, he's be incredibly stupid to stick around .
