I have a high opinion of Herring. I would be comfortable with him as our Sunday starter. It's more about potential with the other guys. We have some guys with really high ceilings like Little, Moffett, Shores, Noot, Coleman etc.

Herring is very good but I think he has reached his potential or close to it. I actually love that we know what we have with him. It will make game time decisions easier. It's more that I think the other guys have higher ceilings. Some will reach their potential and some won't.

Shores is not a pitcher we should count on this year.

Did JJ mention anything on the time line for Noot?

Coleman

Do we have any clue as to why he didn't throw any in the fall?

Don't know what makes you say this. Especially now with a pitching coach that has shown a track record of improving lefties.

Gavin Guidry threw 28 innings last year but didn't really hit the mound until about halfway through the year.

His role may limit his innings but not his appearances.

Setting the total for Guidry at 40 innings.

I agree about Shores. Noot I think is mid April. Haven't heard anything on Coleman. He has been in the dugout and in good spirits.

Thought Kling was draft eligible this year? CJJ said Holman was the bama pitcher he feared the most, for what that's worth. He also spent some time really talking up Moffett's improvement. He also said that "our best pitcher will be our closer, as in the SEC one run games are too important."

Agree with Josh, under on Guidry.

There's been a lot of consensus on these, maybe I didn't set the numbers good enough.

My next one won't be a straight over under but rather how would rank these three guys in number of innings:

Justin Loer
Gage Jump
Griffin Herring

I could see Cam being used as a starter or closer. He has really good command for a freshman and a 3-4 pitch mix according to his father. He was very impressive in the fall. I could see he or Loer being able to get 2-3 inning saves.

Moffett would scare the hell out of me trying to close a big game. Hasn't proven he can throw enough strikes for my taste. I see him as a work in progress.

I still haven't seen Noot yet.
He was a top 10 pitcher coming out of high-school. How good is he?

Jump - expecting him to be a starter
Herring - long relief
Loer - think he ultimately ends up being a key relief piece

Roles determine so much of this, so its really hard to guess.
I could easily flop any of these. But for now ill go:
Herring
Loer
Jump

He is.

Not quite what he said. He said he always has one of his best pitchers in the back end of games. Not necessarily the best.

Man that is tough. All 3 can be in multiple roles. I think Jump ends up in the weekend rotation.

I'll go
Jump
Loer
Herring

To sidetrack the sidetrack, I bet we see a frick ton of Little, Moffett and Herring early on. I am really looking forward to seeing Herring and Ack. This is a solid thread, can't wait for baseball season.

Hurd will forever have my respect for his incredible showing in CWS.

Do we start Cam as mid week starter and slowly integrate him?
