All of this mess with the fight situation could have been avoided if these minor rules would have been followed.

Who has issues with them breaking curfew? That actually happens on a regular basis

Meh. Not a big deal. Players do it all the time. And they do it 2 days before the game not 16.

For years players have been going up to reggies on thursday nights before the games. Name a player and i bet hes broken curfew more than once.
Breaking a curfew isn't that big a deal. It's been said by many in this thread already.

Ganging up on some defenseless kid and beating the shite out him and kicking him in the head, however, (if true) shows a certain level of classlessness and is borderline gangsta mentality a la Miami Hurricanes players. We don't need that shite at LSU.

comes with the territory of being the starting QB on a free ride at a top 5 school. His mistakes will be magnified because they embarrass the university

I am all for second chances if these student athletes understand what they are being asked to do in the future. Les has to get control of this curfew breaking situation. First thing he does is find out who on this team is willing to follow his rules. Second if there are players who feel these rules don't apply to them and they are bigger than the team they should be dismissed from the program. This business about minimizing rule breaking and excusing it is a big mistake. I hope/think Les is smart enough not to blow this whole situation off (though we obviously have a lot of players who feel this rule doesn't apply to them). I guess we will see. I will take Les at his word for now he will handle it.

I understand if they were in a fight, they should not play in the next up comeing game. When it comes to curfew its not the same thing,Me and a budy bork curfew in high school and they ran us like dogs(Me,my budy and the hole team),and that was back when we had 3 a days,So just running them for the curfew is just fine.As far as life changing,in a way it did chang my life,i fellt like a totle arse hole for what i did to my team mates.I hope JJ and who ever will feel the same way.

Not a curfew. The guys whining about "but guuuys theres a cuurrrfeww" on the team are the guys that are the least likely to be a true leader and no one wants to follow because it is annoying. They simply are a follower. There are rules and there are RULES. Curfew is a rule. No fighting is a RULE. Making grades to stay eligible is a RULE.

Still waiting for the former players who regularly broke curfew to fill us in on what sucess your team had. BCSC's, MNC?
I'm sure NCAA national champions of past had curfew breakers, I'm also sure the 03' & 07 team had more respect for the LSU program, coaches & and they're famalies, than some of this group have.
I hope they can pull together and overcome any missed time by players.
I'll support what ever Les Miles dishes out. If JJ playes great if it's Lee great.Same for the others involved.

I do want to add that I hope that whoever posted that Les talked to JJ's father and Les was told JJ had nothing to do with this and he said he had too much to lose. Was mistaken, because if it was a true report and players lied it will just make things a whole lot worst.

As for as everone claiming this will be swept under the rug. It ain't gonna happen. The players have lawyered up, that may slow things down. Maybe they hope to push this past the end of the season, but I think LSU will make they're own ruling soon.

The correlation between you (some grunt) in the military breaking the rules, and LSU football players (probably the most closely scrutinized people in all of Baton Rouge) breaking the rules is such a long shot it doesn't even register on the credible meter.

I guess there's some merit to your post (being generous), but...
1. Football isn't the military. It is, in the end, probably less serious to break a curfew in CFB than as a "grunt" in the military. Just my opinion.

2. I'm in the Navy and have been for almost 6 years. "Grunt" typically describes infantrymen--generally very junior ones.

3. Your posts are generally among the more reasonable on the poliboard. I'm a bit surprised at this rubbish. I already expressed my opinion of any alleged unprovoked attacked. We were discussing the curfew.

Happy Sunday, sport.

ETA: I may be confusing you with someone else. You seem a bit high strung about this whole affair.

How did this thread brecome about the military? Anyone who has been to college, any college, and has known football players, and have seen them in bars, knows that sooner or later there will be a fight. Whether over some comment, or girl or whatever. There is usually trouble. That's why curfews exist, to keep the players out of trouble!

Rosetta just reported that 50 players broke curfew and its a tradition to do it on the last day of camp. Everyone who's blaming JJ for being a bad leader and not stopping the team from going needs to eat crow. They're practically encouraged to break it. That's probably why miles was so disappointed. By getting into a fight theyve ruined this for future years and he'll have to be stricter on curfews

Doc, you have got to be the most uptight, rod up your arse, self righteous, sanctimonious (running out of adjectives, though I don't want to) turd of a human being I have ever heard of.

Please, print this and make a badge of it so that I can recognize you. If I have ever met someone in serious need of a BJ, you are the guy.
