its not just we want the new guy...its the fact that jennings is a scrambler ...just like harris...the diff is harris has a stronger arm and is faster. so therefor seeing the struggles in jennings 2 games(instead of praising his play as a frosh..winning 2 gmes) people try to think of a higher ceiling! we always do... based on that.whether it pans out that way...who knows

Harris needs to gain some weight
Has to become a more accurate passer as well.
I don't see one of them riding the bench while the other one plays for several years.
Or.......I don't see either of them riding the bench for several years, while Rettig (And his superior passing skills) starts and plays.

I'm guessing this was sarcasm, or you are crazy. Rettig had average accuracy in high school and was a very poor decision maker. Harris is inaccurate, but seems to make good decisions. Jennings was better in high school in both of these categories. The only thing either of the other QBs have over Jennings is arm strength, and if you are really going to hang your hat on that, I can point to 2012 to show you that you need more than that.
IMO Jennings will do very well and Rettig will be his backup. Harris will redshirt.

All of this...this is a guy who gets it.

Agreed. Rettig will probably transfer after this year. Harris will probably redshirt. AJ will probably start two or three years. But these are just likelihoods based on the coaches' decisions last year and past examples of true freshmen QBs. It could be that Rettig had some fixable flaw, and he's actually the next Flacco. Maybe Harris will win the job this year or next; if he does, he'll be a monster, I'll tell you that.

I think the reason everyone is so excited about Harris is his quick release and velocity on his throws. Jennings doesn't have the zip and if his throws float they will get picked in the SEC. Unfortunately all 3 have accuracy issues with Jennings maybe being the most accurate.
Regardless who wins the job we should be prepared for growing pains and not expect the type of production we got from Mett. Even with JUCO experience Mett took a year to adjust. I suspect this season will be a good one for our TEs in the passing game as our QB gets settled.

I think things like this are poisonous to the program and are a big reason why fans end up taking sides and pulling for one LSU player over another.

I think a lot of fans don't give two hoots in hell who starts as long as the guy keeps the offense moving down the field, minimizes mistakes, and is at least capable of making some accurate throws.
I'm from N LA so I'm a little biased towards Harris but if he's not ready then lets go AJ!! JUST WIN BABY!

Unfortunately, the past 10+ years of LSU football history show this isn't the case. There was never a time in which JaMarcus wasn't doing the things you suggest and yet there was a VERY loud contingent of fans clamoring for Flynn. This desire to have fans decide who should start was so toxic in 2004 that Saban himself felt the need to rip one of the local TV stations for running a web poll on who they thought should be starting...Russell or Randal.
My point is simply a fan's version of what Travis Daniels said back in 2001 when he got his redshirt pulled before the sEC Championship game...we ought to be pulling for the name on the side of the helmet rather than the one on the back of the jersey. Far too often that does not happen, for whatever reason, and it leads to factions of fans fighting and forcing unnecessary bullshite into the locker room as people take sides.
Fans will do what fans do...I just wish this wasn't one of those things. In this case, we have one player who has played 1 game and a drive, and another who has yet to put on an LSU helmet...and we're asking who should be the guy.

Absolutely agree with this!!

I wish we could just support whoever the starting QB is but that sounds ridiculous just coming out of my mouth.
Mark my words: Whoever comes out of spring as No. 2 will be the most popular player on the team.

I think AJ has the spot right now, BUT it's definitely not set in stone. The coaches saw how uneasy he was against Iowa. And that had nothing to do with the gameplan. I was at the game. AJ looked lost.
That being said I think Harris might redshirt, but I think Rettig gets the start. AJ was the best guy to back Mett up AT THE TIME. He's not the best guy to be the starter. So I think it's either Rettig or Harris.

Simply because I don't think AJ will. Harris is too green. I would love to see either Harris or Rettig. Doesn't matter. Like I said, I think AJ was the best guy to step in right away and play a down against Arkansas and Iowa. I don't think he's the best guy to start in August.

BUT he may round into that guy....everyone is always uneasy with new QBs. They have to learn sometime though. Our OOC schedule should help ease AJ into the role. We will know a lot about AJ after the UW game in Houston.

I caught some of the UnderAmour practices on ESPN and all of the talking heads/experts said Harris has a lot of work to do on his accuracy. As well, he did look a bit on the slender side. So, unless something bad happens with AJ, I can see Cam focusing more on AJ this spring & bringing Harris along at a good pace. And I am not discounting Rettig at all.
