Usually takes..what, 2 to 3 years to implement a brand new offensive system?

You need to draw up formations, rearrange personnel, teach each player completely new roles..

Not to mention usually need to recruit players that better fit your system.

This dude comes in and all of a sudden we lead the nation in TDs, have yet to/score less than 45, and Burrow has more touchdowns in week 4 than he did all last year.

Tip of the fricking hat to Orgeron for finding this damn genius. Surely the Saints staff knew they were losiig someone great.

That’s what happens when the talent to run a system is already in place. Most changes in offensive philosophy require recruiting the talent to run the system. LSU has been recruiting RPO offensive talent and running a power I offense.

Miles was the worst at recruiting QBs to play in his system....would go get a dual threat QB who rarely took snaps under center to come in and run a conventional power I offense with QB under center running toss dives or long drawn out play action pass plays. Always be late getting play in so QB could never have time to read the defense, not sure if they could read them anyways though haha

Yes, he is impressive and I understand that Payton was pissed that he left as he leaned heavily on Brady for a week to week input for each opponent. Brady was in charge of the offensive packages that were used for Hill specifically.

Can't lose this guy. I thought before this season that O wanted to see how this was going to play out and if thumbs up he would promote Brady to OC. I think it's been more than anyone imagined.

A lot of the formation concepts were implemented last year by Ensminger. We ran tempo, zone read, etc. last year. Brady just helped perfect it. It wasn’t as radical of a change as some are making it out to be.

This.

Plug in an average QB and receiver and the results would be much different. Burrow went from good to great and our stud WR triplets improved as well. We are watching exceptional talent execute this system.

Credit all around. Orgeron, Ensminger and Brady. I’ve never understood the need some people have to anoint one person, in a team sport, as superman, and then worship him. The same people did the same thing last season with Aranda.

The Saints offensive brain trust is far from empty. Brady was taking notes and learning every second of every day with Drew Brees and Sean Payton.

please list all metrics that back this claim up.

I just don't get what is so hard about admitting Brady has had such a massive effect on our offense. It doesn't take away from what's happening to admit the reason for it.

Good, let's give E a raise and extension, if Brady goes, no big deal.

Your crusade to diminish Brady is comical.

It's not all on E or all on Brady.
The combination of the two with the proper QB and receivers have made it fall into place.

Well all of these things were here last season except Brady and now the offense just magically makes a massive jump in production. Believe whatever you want but I’m not buying that everything was in place last season and Brady just came in and “tweaked” a few things in E’s groundbreaking system.

Exactly! Brady is an important piece to a puzzle that has been coming together for three years now.

No one here knows if Brady is solely, half or partly responsible for this offense. If any of you are sitting in the booth next to E and Brady let me know and I will consider you a viable source until then all this Brady worship is bogus.

What we do know is if Brady calls a play and E approves it they both get credit. Whatever is going on in that booth is working and this team of E and B has LSU at the top of the SEC in scoring.

This is not true. We have run a dozen or so plays that I have never seen LSU run, particularly out of empty sets. Just because we occasionally went tempo and zone read (lol) does not mean Ensminger had run virtually anything we run today before this year.

This is an entirely new offense. We just still occasionally run plays and that all teams run.

Y’all are acting like we went straight from I-form Les ball to this year’s offense.

Conveniently forgetting last year, especially near the end of the year and the Georgia game.

I know it kills people to admit that E actually did some good things last year, but it happened.

Context clues are important. Brady came from the Saints. We run a lot of the exact same fricking plays that the Saints run.

You do the math.

He also has the title of Passing Game Coordinator and we pass it more than we ever have, in his first year.

Again, you do the math.

Also, Steve and O themselves credit Joe, you fricknut.

quote:

"We've got to go to the spread next year," Orgeron said he told offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger late in the 2018 regular season — perhaps not long after the 29-0 loss to Alabama on Nov. 3, which was Ensminger's second straight shutout at the hands of the Tide as offensive coordinator.

quote:

"I agree," Ensminger said. "Let's get somebody who knows it, and let him put it in." Enter Joe Brady

quote:

When wide receivers coach Jerry Sullivan told Orgeron last November that he would be retiring, Orgeron remembered Brady from the summer of 2018 when Brady and other Saints assistants spoke to LSU's coaches at LSU about offense. "I immediately thought of Joe Brady," Orgeron said. "He did a tremendous job in that talk, a big-time job. And I always wanted the Saints' passing game."

quote:

"We went to the spread," Orgeron beamed at SEC Media Days last month. "We hired Joe Brady. He came from the Saints and is a very talented coach. He has been a game changer for our staff."

E did everything he could do, based on what O wanted. He has never been capable of implementing a full spread offense. You act as if zone reads and up tempo are new concepts. High school teams do both. LSU has done both before E.

Joe Brady is the entire reason this offense was implemented, period.

Up tempo and zone reads? We are doing so much more than that now.
