I don’t think he loses respect from his teammates. Nuss seems to be well liked as been shown being supportive on the sidelines all year. I truly believe it was the decision of the coaching staff to preserve the redshirt, and if so I’m sure the team was made aware. Dude is a leader and based on what I’ve SEEN he probably wanted to play with his freshman WR. However I could be wrong. Just basing this off his interactions on the sidelines this year.

Agree. Have read on other sites he is well liked and a nice guy. Players don’t look at things the same way fans do. Especially in this day and age. The team was probably just as excited to give Jontre a chance.

This is the thing that so many short-sighted fans don't understand. We need people to be backups too. Why do some of our fans feel the need to shite on players for weighing their own self interest. I'd do the same. Ed O did this by playing Nuss more than needed. Max Johnson put Nuss in that situation by quiting on his team. We still need Nuss on the team. Brennen & Walker Howard are not enough to get us through next year. Nuss is still a Tiger. That is until the fans run him off. Personally, I'm thankful that Kirklin got the oppurtunity to play last night. If Nuss plays, we don't get that. We got our arse kicked in a bowl and still have a story I'll tell my kids years from now. Otherwise, this game would have been forgettable.

You are the kind of turd we need cheering for the other team. You seem a little downsy and seem to lack the ability to use common sense.

The fact is the knife cuts both ways. Just as JK endeared himself to most (if not all) LSU fans by stepping up the way he did....To many in our fanbase Nuss has put himself in an impossible position.

Some fans (whether you agree or not) will always see him as the guy that put his personal best interest before the team. That's definitely not what a QB (supposedly leader) of a team should do.

It's done and over. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and either groups opinion is no more or less valid than the other.

I like that response from Davis and I agree no reason for Nuss to burn a redshirt. That being said me personally if I am in Nuss position I am playing 100% no regrets or doubts. Personally I believe you don’t leave your buddies in a bad spot and I got to much Purple and Gold blood in me not to play.

Chad 504 you're a fricking idiot. Coach shouldn't have to kiss a players arse to play once he says he doesn't want to. I'm sure they talked but at some point young move on. How do you use traitor or pussy lol. You don't know shite

I don't agree with this at all. Redshirts are meaningless now especially a guy who is suppose to be starting after next year. PT = experience something invaluable to a QB. He's more likely to transfer than take a redshirt the way NCAA works. It made no sense to put him on the bench last night.

I'll bet Howard passes him on the depth chart next season and then he transfers. Should've burned his redshirt. He could've ride the pine next year behind Brennan and take a redshirt then transfer if he was unhappy/Howard passed him.

You're an idiot. The coaches have the big picture in mind and not just one bowl game that even they know isn't a big deal. It made sense for the player AND the team.

Spin it the other way…..
Myles hasn’t played in a game since week 3 of 2020. He hasn’t worked out since the flip flop.

If Nuss wants to start in 2022, why not grab your opportunity and run with it? Beat Kansas State and throw for 300yds. Attract other portal talent around you showcasing your talents. Show the coaches you want the starting job now.

If he played in 5 games this year, he still has a redshirt season available later on that he can use if he transfers after they change the rule to sitting out again.

Surely you understand the difference between the conference championship game, and a rather meaningless bowl game, right?

Nuss made the right decision to not burn his redshirt. Yes, it made us sol. But he still made the right decision for himself, and maybe even for the team in general.

Now he is just the guy who redshirted and will not play in more than 4 games next year either before he transfers out.

I love how some of you predict the future with such certainty, as if 2020 didn’t just happen. Brennan was the man and stayed to get his year to shine, and he looked like he would in games 2 and 3…but shite doesn’t always work out like we want or assume, does it? Instead, we end up playing two true freshmen who obviously weren’t ready and frankly don’t look like SEC-level starters, and now they are both gone after only two seasons.

But here we are and it’s as if that could never happen again. Now posters here just assume that Brennan will magically remain healthy all of next season. Nuss should just kick rocks now and transfer out now according to the knuckle-draggers, because how could we possibly end up needing a backup QB to play meaningful minutes or starts? That never happens here, right?

Throwing yet another true freshman (this one coming off an injury) to the wolves will be fine if it does happen, because he’s the next Joe Burrow the second he steps foot on the field!!! We can just have walk-ons for 3rd and 4th string. No big deal. We’ll never need them.

Look, I hope Brennan stays healthy and rewrites every one of Joe’s records in 2022 and then Howard promptly breaks all of them. But one has been injured for two straight years and the other is coming off an injury and has never taken a college snap. What I want and hope doesn’t mean shite. I don’t know what’s going to happen, and neither do any of you.

I do know this- We need three scholarship QBs next season. We need Howard to redshirt, get healthy, learn and develop, and build up in the S&C program. The last thing we need is him getting thrown into the fire in year one. We have a capable backup in Nuss who’s got a little SEC experience, and that’s valuable for next season. Why in the frick would any of you want him to just leave now?

I swear some of you are just like squirrels who are so stupid that they forget someone was shooting at them five minutes before, and then go back about their business as if the past didn’t happen. Those of us who don’t forget so soon know there’s a better than average chance Nuss plays meaningful minutes in games next year as our backup QB.

After that, who knows. Maybe he does get passed up and he hits the portal. If so, it’s not the end of the world. Maybe he doesn’t if he ends up having to play more than we expect in 2022 and does well. What I do know for a fact is wishing him gone now is fricking moronic because we have decent QB depth for next year as it stands without spending a spot we need for positions with far less depth, talent, and experience. Why in the frick would some of you want to use a spot to go get some 2 or 3 star QB to be a placeholder next year when we can use that on TE, CB, OL, or DE, where we really need the help?

If they weren’t going to do everything they could to win, they shouldn’t have played in the bowl game. It’s one or the other.

This is the truth. LSU career suicide is what it was.
