The Advocate - Rabalais, seeking answers to LSU’s many questions, had both some negative and positive takes from the Fla State game.

Speaking of the two minute drill, how about LSU’s drive to take its short lived 17-14 lead just before halftime. That was impressive. After Fla State scored to tie the game 14-14, the Tigers took over at their 14 with 57 seconds remaining… and possessing just two timeouts made it to the Seminoles 19, where Ramos hit a 34 yard field goal.

And what about catching punts? Anderson wasn’t on the team last year, so at this point you almost have to assume LSU’s punt return game is suffering from some sort of curse…if demons can’t be exorcised (against Grambling) how about just rushing 11 at the punter and see what that gets you? I’m being serious.

Wouldn't be against it, but knowing our special teams some idiot would hit the punter the one time we actually get off the field on 3rd down and give em 15

ETA: It really makes no sense that we never try to block punts knowing that we can't return them or even catch them. Almost as inexplicable as going shotgun on 4th and inches.

I half jokingly mentioned this before Anderson muffed that punt

Not a bad idea. For home games, just let the grass grow so the ball won't roll too far.

We need to be more aggressive with at least looking like we're trying to block it so they don't have 5 guys just sitting there just waiting to either nail our returner when the ball is coming to him. And if we muff it, we're screwed.

Someone on an NFL show a few years back suggested the same thing. Based on muffs, blocking penalties, etc., you're just better off letting it go.

What happened to the Ole Miss ST Coach that BK was about ready to hire after last season?

It was reported as pretty much a "Done Deal" but it never happened.

Shite, I suggested that BK try to grab Frank Beamer out of retirement. Who is a better ST Coach than Beamer?......

We need to bring back Coach Chris to fix the return teams.

Why do that when you can split duties amongst a bunch of position coaches? No better way to cure an ailing special teams unit than a bunch of different voices coaching one unit.

You mean like most of the top programs do?

Georgia’s special teams coordinator isn’t even an on field coach. He’s part of the support staff.

You bozos focus on titles and shite. They just need to do better, nothing else matters.

Wouldn't shock me to just see Clayton fair catch the ball and start sending 10 players to block the punt to prevent big roll deep into our territory.

I mean, i kind of agree.
can't fumble a punt if you don't have anyone back there to try to catch it.
MIght as well go all out for the block while making sure you are playing the fake as well.

Don’t rush just have someone back there to make sure no one touches the ball but don’t catch it. We can’t field punts and it’s fricking pathetic.

What can one buy for $100 million? LSU fans know what one can’t!
