Bowl Eligible

Having been an LSU fan for decades, I always feel the need when we reach 6 wins to point out that we are now bowl eligible.
There was a time, not too long ago in the grand scheme of things, that obtaining that sixth win was a very precious and coveted event because it meant we, at the very least, would be in a bowl somewhere.
I think it is wise not to take this simple premise for granted. 12 years ago, bowl eligibility was a monumental thing.
Who knows what will happen over the next 12 years.
Tip one back tonight and enjoy the fact that we are living in the Golden Age of LSU Football in which bowl eligibility is a given and our eyes are pointed towards SEC and National Championships instead.

Honestly, it's now an afterthought in most fans' minds. But I'm glad you brought this up. Once again, we'll be playing postseason football.

Great post, however I think we still need 1 more win. I think you need 6 wins over FBS teams. Towson was FCS.

We have added an extra game to the schedule since those days though which waters it down much more.

I agree. I do the same every year. Growing up that wasn't always a given. Sure has been nice this century.

I remember the excitement around playing Nick Saban's Michigan State team in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl.

Me too. The Florida States and Nebraskas seemed almost mythical in how good they were...I can honestly say I never thought I'd see the day when LSU was on that level.
