0 for 14 with 5 K's... need some production there!
Thompson hitting before Jobert in the order is puzzling??? He needs to be in the 9th hole!

Thompson is completely worthless at the plate right now.

Thompson in 8th hole. Leave Pearson 9th so Crewes can knock him in

Listen, I even made the comment he may as well not go up to the plate with a bat. Dude was down bad, head hanging, botches a play. He came back in his last at bat, and he didn’t get a hit, but it was at least a solid at bat. Just have to hope he keeps it going tomorrow.

Tre 2nd makes a lot of sense…you can run a lot of offense through him with Crews on base. He can hit to all fields and is a good contact hitter.

White 3rd also works well. He can hit with power to opposite field and can hit off speed well and has a good 2 strike approach.

Everybody loves to spout the cliche that good pitching beats good hitting. And we’ve just played 3 games against the 2 best pitching staffs in the country who run out future big leaguers pumping mid 90s like a fricking PEZ dispenser, and y’all lose your fricking minds because the bottom of our order has had a couple rough games against them and want to blow everything up.

Batting orders get tweaked. No one is blowing anything up.

The great conundrum...who to catch tomorrow after what we saw behind the plate today vs yesterday. Defense=no comparison but dang.. Travinski sure lengthens our lineup when he's in there!

But the bottom of the order has won us critical games when the top doesn't produce.

Imagine if both parts of the order start hitting at the same time in Omaha.

Not in the College World Series based on a tiny sample size against the best arms in the country. It reeks of desperation and sends a terrible message to the dudes that got you there. You want your guys to bust out of it? You stand by them and let you know you believe in them. Not get down on them and hurt their confidence even more.

Hot take: Jordan Thompson hits a big home run tomorrow or Thursday that helps propel us into the Finals.

Thompson has been a hitter all season. I dont like the approach of making him bunt when he has roped line drives all season. Especially because its obvious they dont practice bunting enough in live game situations.

He almost got that last ball in play.

Sure he has been down at the plate but hopefully he gets hot tomorrow because he has a boatload of good hits this season.

Cannot argue with that.

For what it’s worth, I haven’t always loved the lineups Jay’s constructed this year. But something clicked when Travinski turned into Superman, and they’ve ridden that lineup the rest of the way. Probably more of a “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” or superstitious thing at this point more than trying to construct the absolute perfect order. But there is something to be said about the mental part of it. Kinda like football coaches don’t like pulling their starting QBs when they’ve thrown a few picks and are having a bad game, they don’t want them looking over their shoulder and playing scared to make a mistake. There’s something comforting about knowing when you show up at the park your name is gonna be penciled in the lineup at the same spot as the day before, even if you’re coming off an 0-5er with a golden sombrero.

To that point, though, Jay’s not perfect. I thought his decisions to bunt Thomspon were terrible. And not just in hindsight, and not just because I don’t believe in bunting 99% of the time. But because that’s not who we are, and it made Jay seem like he lacked confidence. And I get it—he’s human and facing elimination with the most talented team he’s likely to ever have. (Not necessarily the “best” team he’ll ever have, but the most talented). And he’s terrified of wasting it. We’ve all heard him talk about how much this means to him. He could win 3 NCs in the next 10 years, but he’ll never get over not winning with this team if he doesn’t. It will keep him up for nights on end. And I think that fear made him do some things that’s not really him. But it doesn’t inspire confidence to go away from
what you’ve been doing all season. The guys need to be able to look to him and know he has it under control. Hopefully tonight turned it around for him and the team and they can play free from here on out, not worrying about every little thing being the one that keeps them from hoisting the trophy.

0 for 11 with 8 K’s the night before.

So 0 for 25 with 13 K’s in two games.

Short & simple - strategy.

Lengthy:
If you load up all of your top hitters in a back to back order, you inevitably have likely outs in a 1-2-3 order. You ideally space them out (really all of your players) somewhere 5-9.

Our bottom guys are in a slump currently, but all have shown the ability to get on a hot streak with clutch hits. Here’s to hoping for our bats to get hot and the pitching staff to keep rolling! The pitching staff has been the strength of our team so far in Omaha, which is wildly surprising for myself.

Tre with clutch at bats in Regionals last year and he has impressed me the most on this biggest of biggest stages.Tommy looks like he is trying to hit it out of the state of Nebraska each at bat. He is capable of flicking his wrist and hammering balls to right center, so maybe a shot of Cuervo and a Valium before getting in the box. His hand-eye coordination and hand quickness are the best I’ve seen and overcome his mechanics at times.

How quickly we forget the bottom half matched top half in hits and rbi for CWS opener.
