Look I'm not going to beat you up about JJ but in 2011 his stats weren't even as good as Jarrett Lee's that year. Jarrett Lee had 67 more passes than JJ that year and had 560 more yards passing, had 8 more touchdowns, had 10 less sacks than JJ had even with more passing attempts, had a higher comp percentage, and a higher efficiency rating. JJ wasn't even the best QB statistically that year for LSU so its weird how you keep bringing up stats to prove an argum
And I've repeatedly said JLEE shouldve remained the starter in 2011. I'm not saying JJ was agood qb. I'm saying he wasn't horrible his entire career.
But there wasn't much difference in JJ and JLEE'S passing in 2011.
JJ'S yards per attempt was 7.4
JLee yards per attempt was 7.8. The only thing separating them wad pass attempts.
Both qbs played decent in 2011 but in my opinion JLEE had earned the right to be the starter.

Leadership and instincts are just as important if not more than stats...Its how the team responds to said QB..... On 1/9/12 they didn't respond to JJ... You keep blaming the whole offense... Well JJ was the so-called LEADER of that offense and FAILED...........In EVERY phase of being a qb.... That is what you love to call A FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I am done arguing with you about ANYTHING JJ... Its pointless and has zero business in this thread...
Except coaches with their job on the line clearly thought JJ'S leadership was just fine. Why would I take your opinion on his leadership over coaches that see him interact with his teammates every day? You just wish his leadership sucked so that would help your argument that he was a bad qb because FACTS prove he wasn't .

Except no he wont. In what reality does a 48.9 % compl go up to the 6th best in lsu history? In what reality does a 118.6 qb rating go up to the 8th best in lsu history.
Well, Matt Mauck began his career with 48.5% completions and a 118.8 QBR and ended his career 7th and 6th, respectively, on the All-Time list, so there is a precedent.

In what reality does 11tds-7 ints go up to a 3/1 td/int ratio?
And Jefferson threw 7 TDs to 10 INTs in 2010 prior to having his 6:2 season in 2011....
I appreciate you fighting the good fight, but there's no reason to shite on other (current) quarterbacks in order to do so.

On the flip side, I think this offense has the chance to be much more explosive than the 2011 team so yes, I think this team has potential to be special.
The 2011 offense was the best big-play offense LSU has had in years, and led the SEC in scoring.
Yes, leading the SEC in scoring can certainly be attributed some to the amazing 2011 defense. However, that was still a very efficient offense for the vast majority of the season.
Going into this season, we have no idea what to expect at the quarterback position, and we will likely have a starter who has made one dreadful start in his college career. In 2011, the tandem of Jefferson and Lee were experienced, pretty reliable, and effective overall between the two of them.
No matter how much people like to hate on Jefferson, and how inconsistent Lee could be at times, we were MUCH more solid at the quarterback position in 2011 than we are going into the 2015 season.
The 2015 team will not be better on offense, defense, or special teams than the 2011 team. Now, I don't want that to sound like I'm down on this year's team. The 2011 team was simply the best team we've ever put on the field, by a long shot. Also, the conference doesn't boast another team in the West nearly as strong as Alabama was in 2011, so we don't necessarily have to be as good as we were in 2011 to win the SEC this year (or even close).
LSU can win the SEC this season, if it gets decent quarterback play.

The funny thing is if you go back and watch that game.....JL started the game off good...completing passes for first downs on the first drive (I believe 2 or 3 first downs.) Then he threw a bad interception....and promptly sat the bench for a long period of time. The FIRST play later in the game that he is re-inserted, they drew up a play for him to throw it deep down the center of the field
AKA sucking

Yes but he got a lot better. Not marginally like Hollow suggests. He said our 2014 qbs only need to get slightly better to be as good as JJ. He also set the single season qb rushing record in 2010.

How is posting their 2014 stats to JJ'S 2011 stats, shitting on our current qbs?
All I said that JJ had far better seasons than our 2014 qbs did. If our 2014 qb gets slightly better they won't be as good as JJ. It's not shitting on a player when you use their stat line.

.... It will be a very tough game that early in the season..........
State had 22 and 23 year old 5th year seniors last year playing against much younger teams. Last season was their chance and they blew it. Back to reality for them.

I had to go look just because RickDaddy has taken these statements against his idol so personally. He is bragging about JJ's accomplishments and saying Jennings is far from where JJ was. Well big Rick Daddy.....here are facts.
JJ finished with a 58% completion record....he threw 34 career touchdowns.....17 of which came his sophomore year.....You act like those are historic numbers...holy shite, they are terrible.
Jennings currently is averaging more yards per attempt than JJ, and if he keeps on his same pace (which everyone knows what pace that was this past year) and he were to start the entire year the next two seasons, he would have more touchdowns than JJ and more yards, and more yards per attempt.....
Let that sink in RickDaddy, while you are praising JJ......If Jennings has two more seasons mirroring his last one, he will most likely break several of JJ's passing records, as you call them.........again, let that sink in.

I agree, everyone is way overestimating State because they were decent last year while LSU and Auburn and A&M were down. They are at best a 7-5 team with DP. If he were to get hurt...watch out...this team may go 4-8, or worse. Certainly not a complete team.

yep that's exactly what I said. But after looking at the data...they don't even have to get marginally better....Jennings would pass JJ in most categories just by continuing where he is, with perhaps a 5% increase in productivity. Let that sink in dumbass.

This is a 9-3 team at best. Prob 8-4.
This Def is going to struggle up front. Not to mention the depth issue.

I hope the optimism is justified.
There were people in preseason predicting a national championship for last year's team too.

nobody is predicting a NC for a team with 2 QBs with a combined 1 start

I'm not saying the defense won't be good this season. But unless there is a Tyrann Mathieu type player on the team, they won't be as good as 2011
