Pellini's first game at LSU was Arizona St in 2005. We gave up 461 passing yards. We looked horrible.

His next game was the infamous loss to Tennessee on a Monday night in tiger stadium. We gave up 30 2nd half points and blew a 21-0 halftime lead. After the game fans were giving him so much shite that reports came out about him having to be restrained from fighting fans.

Then the defense got it together and the most points we gave up in a game the rest of the year was 17.

After a rough start he built some of the best defenses we have ever had at LSU. Bo has earned our patience and our faith. Don't jump out the window yet.

And a fan launched firelsucoaches.com and LSU later won a natty with Pelini’s fierce defense. What does it tell you? LSU fans have long been a bunch of little girls.

Maybe he is a good coach, but terrible at in game adjustments. If you’re not good at the latter, you better be awesome at the former.

This is true, hope it works out that way again.

I thought Pelini was a big part of us winning it all in 2007. Yes, I thought - even that year...he had some curious game plans (Arkansas I still don't understand) but he provided leadership I think frankly that Les just couldn't. i can remember countless times seeing him on the sideline talking to offensive players which i thought curious at the time, but it became apparent it was something that was needed.

But time reveals all, so hopefully he can rebound similarly from this embarrassment.

Dude took over a depleted defense. I'll give him time

Wait, so you’re saying that FIFTEEN years ago he had a bad start and adjusted and because of that you should expect the same?

Over the course of 15 years wouldn’t you expect he has learned how to just avoid starting the season with a loss?

Is the expectation with him every year that he’s allowed to drop the first and win the rest?

Literally makes no sense.

Well, in all fairness, LSU lost the #1 CB in the country and was starting Freshmen and inexperienced players in the secondary and a transfer from Nichols. The pass rush was good but the pass defense was poor. I can’t blame Pelini for the level and inexperienced talent he was forced to use and losing Stingley at the last minute. Improvements need to be made but Brennan sure as Hell didn’t help matters by generating almost no offense in the 1st half. By going 3 & out so many times in the 1st half he forced the Defense to play for over 20 minutes of the half. The fact they were on the field so much in the 1st half was a definite factor in the second half.

I think most are open to that. However, did you see us adjust to any zone concepts when our young DBs were getting roasted? MSU ran the same 5 plays

Let's not get dramatic here, Karen. I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

That was 15 years ago. College football offenses are not just different, they’ve been revolutionized. It doesn’t appear Pelini has adapted.

Besides that, I’ve gotten a kick out of all idiots thinking Aranda sucks, are glad he’s gone, and Bo will be much better. They either forget or are too young to remember just how much this board hated Bo towards the end of his tenure here. They were ready to drive his UHaul to Lincoln and help him unpack.

Yeah they were. We had DL talent at that time that we wish we had now, and still he put out weird arse gameplans against Arkansas specifically. We also had pretty pedestrian LB play during his tenure. Who can forget Luke Sanders, and the bashing he got? Ali Highsmith was great, but I can't even remember the other starter that year. Maybe it was Derry Beckwith. Chavis was responsible for developing some of the young LBs like Perry Riley and Kelvin Sheppard too.

That was 15 years ago and offenses in college football were completely different. Pelini is a dinosaur.

I don’t recall that. Pelini’s Defense was good enough to be ranked 2nd overall in the SEC and win an NC in 2007. His last game was against Ohio State for the National Title and I do not remember throngs of LSU fans being happy he left for Nebraska (where he won 9 games per season and was fired). LSU’s secondary vs. MSU was a patchwork unit and that is being kind.

Lol, LSU fans will be LSU fans. They mentioned having 1 starter return on D from last year, Stevens. And how many played their first game last night in a tiger uniform. This D will be fine, The majority of LSU fans unfortunately, well they will not change and that has been proven.
