And yet, aranda’s defense always adjusted.
You gonna completely roast aranda’s genius over one mistaken coverage against alabama? One of the most elite offenses in the country

Everyone on here is blaming Bo for the defenses problems. It’s a player problem. Everyone wants to bash the coaches for their calls, when in reality we have a roster that is just bad. This is on O
it's 2020.
Since we won the national championship, we:
1)lost starters on the D Line, lost most of the linebackers, a starting corner and a starting safety.
2) then lost the defensive coordinator, who happened to have total control of the defense (unlike at Alabama, where they run "Saban's scheme" with wrinkles)
3) then lost spring practice and most of the summer, the time where returning players would get to learn the new scheme Pelini (or ANYONE ELSE) brought in
4) then lost 2 more guys expected to play big roles as leaders on and off the field, with Shelvin and Vincent
5) then had a late preseason distraction with the social unrest, where players felt they had the need to march and protest, instead of really bear down and pick up the details of the scheme.
6) then just for fun, had basically game-day scratch of the best player on the defense, with Stingley's sudden illness, on Opening Day.
I expect this team will be fine on defense by the end of the season, but it was definitely behind the 8 ball to start.

Because a player is really going to go in front of the media and tell them that he thinks his DC doesn't know what he's doing? This only makes it look like your reaching and trying wayyyyy too hard to get your point across.

While this is all true for LSU, is it also mostly true for ALL other top programs. EVERYONE has to deal with the loss of players and no spring or summer to prepare new guys.
Maybe it wasn't best time to try an implement a new scheme on defense. That is a coaching decision.
