I like O a lot and I truly believe he is a the perfect leader of our program. He loves LSU and does not aspire to any other position. However we all know he is not an x & o coach. He is a great recruiter, motivator, and face of the program. Let him be the Bobby Bowden of LSU. He excels at that. He needs to surround himself with assistants, etc that do everything else at the highest level. That’s the blueprint for LSU sustainability. Unless he can keep a high level dc, oc, position coaches, etc LSU will not be a year in year out top 10 program. That’s my 2 cents anyway.

He doesn't know what to look for in assistants.

I could win a national championship if I surrounded myself with elite coordinaters. This is not a realistic approach to having a continously dominant program.

LSU needs a real coach who doesn't have to rely on hiring two of the best coordinators in the game to win.

No, you couldn’t.

You can’t make “comfortable” hires and expect that.

Bo was a comfortable hire
SE in 18 was a comfortable hire

A monkey could win a national championship if you have the two best coordinators in the game. O is shite. Face it.

Ok,

Thats fine. Whatever. But the problem with getting the best coaches is that you're going to lose the best coaches year after year to better positions.

How do you make a program like LSU a stepping stone for a better position?

You dont. Ed O isn't a head coach.

I'd rather have an offensive coach or a defensive coach like Aranda, etc. etc.

If Ed O "loves" LSU then why doesn't have stay on the staff with a senior position and recruiting coordinator?

Bowden is a bad example. Guy should have retired a long time before he did. Orgeron is more similar to Dabo than Bowden. Energy coach, recruiter, needs elite talent and has had an elite coordinator.

Simple. He’s prideful and arrogant. Albeit, most coach would be after coming off the beast season ever.

In his prime, Bobby Bowden had an innovative offensive mind and I believe he called plays too.

Both his OC and DC need to constantly be guys that you expect to lose every 3-4 years. If you don’t have the next Aranda or Brady then you have Ensminger/Linehan and Pelini!

Thats the problem. That blueprint doesnt lead to sustainability. Not high level sustainability anyway.

When those high level assistants do well, they get poached. They are the ones that have the higher aspirations and they will no doubt leave to follow their own goals. You cant blame them for that. This is exactly what happened with Brady and Aranda.

This was my issue with the O hire from day one

The problem is he doesn’t want to keep having to search for assistants every season. Which is why he keeps trying to push older fellas who would stay here forever. Like E and Pelini. He wants substainabulity on staff over repeatedly looking for up and comers
