Of course beign protected by someone like Clark is extremely valuable. I didn't say othewise.

But, it's laughable if you think that is the main reason that Dean is hitting .260ish and hasn't hit a HR in 29 games.

Teams aren't pitching around Dean. They are pitching to him...and getting him out.

I think Dean is too good not to break out of this. But, let's not pretend like he's playing up to his potential and is purely a victim of circumstance. That's just not the case.

Dean is completely domed out right, once he gets is head right he will be ok. When that may happen is up to him.

All kinds of research has shown that a guys protection has minimal effect on the type of pitches he sees
This is true, but you will never convince many people of this because their junior high school baseball coach told them otherwise, and none of your fancy "numbers learnin'" can change their mind.

Even assuming that protection matters, it's utter crap to say that Dean has no one to protect him in the lineup. We're fourth in the league in hitting and 3rd in OBP.

Yes, I compared an elite hitter at his level of baseball to another elite hitter at his level of baseball.

You must be really dumb if you think I'm saying he is as good as Ramirez and not making a relative comparison.

Dean only has 114 abs, which is barely more than a months worth on a major league schedule. It isn't uncommon for guys to slump that long before turning on the switch.

This is crap nobody is pitching around this guy,if thats the case he should take more pitches and increase his on-base prctage which is mediocre. He overswings while down in the count and can't hit lefties at all.He will get another chance next year after he's drafted in the 29th round by the royals.

There is no one in front of are in back of him to take away from him seeing more pitches to hit this year. With Clark there with him they could not pitch around him so he saw better pitches to hit. Makes a big difference.

So, did Clark recently get back in the lineup?

Crazy to think Dean may end up with the best average on the team.

.225 BA after the USC game on March 21. 88 point increase (.313) in 17 games. 18 regular season games remaining.

Hard to imagine he can sustain this pace the rest of the year, but getting to .350 is not unreasonable. That will be close to the team leader.

Tell this to Rice in Omaha last year.
When Dean is on he sprays many hits to the LF gap
