Yea you would, or a court would force it on you. If you don’t have the money, then they would take your house and everything else you have.

No they wouldn’t. Been in the situation plenty of times. Doesn’t mean there isn’t language that can make it happen here, you can blame that fat worm you all worshiped but the OP has a specific dynamic he’s using and he’s correct. Kelly wants money for something he didn’t and couldn’t do.

If you signed a guaranteed contract you most certainly will pay, or you will lose everything. if you don’t like that it’s your fault for agreeing to the contract. good luck with your next hire if everyone you are competing against is signing and honoring contracts.

There is a zero percent chance you have remotely been in the position of hiring someone with a contract like the one LSU had with Brian Kelly that is fully guaranteed.

Hiring a contractor to fix the bathroom in your trailer is not fully guaranteed like that so not honoring the contract if they did a bad job is not the same.

There is no provision in a coaches contract that invalidates it because he didn’t win enough to satisfy people that think anything short of a championship is failure. There is no clause that says it’s invalid if he has an embarrassing loss. If he violated the contract by all means show that, but it better not be some Mickey Mouse shite.

If I sign a guaranteed contract with you to buy 10 apples from me and you decide after 3 and a half eaten one you don’t like them and don’t want the rest, you still owe me for the rest, if you don’t want to pay tough shite

What if I complain during the 4th apple and you refuse to replace them ? This is after you request me to not judge until the 4th one. I’m willing to cut some of my losses, in order to replace them, I offer to let you keep the apples, but I can only pay you for 7 apples, because I still need apple money. Then you tell all the other Apple sellers I don’t pay for my apples and didn’t mention any problems with them? What if I wasn’t even authorized to buy the apples? What then??

CBK literally stole $ if everything we hear is true

Key word here is “if”

No one can prove “what we hear”.

LSU gave him a contract with a massive buyout. He’s owed the liquidated damages plain and simple. If he wants to take less awesome, if not LSU owes him the balance of his contract…this is no one’s fault but LSU’s.

Love him or hate him….but BK played LSU since the day he was approached about the LSU job and he’s still playing us ! He sold us a bill of goods and for him, it will be the gift that just keeps on giving !

Scum for taking LSU for a ride. Meaning, he had full intent on coasting and collecting a pay check…
So much so he donated a million dollars of his own.

Some of y'all take a narrative and go way left with it. Or right if that's your pleasure.

But in truth it's somewhere in the middle.

And you sound like a fool.

I'm glad food suppliers don't play by those rules. If I buy 10 apples and they are terrible and make my customers sick, I get credit and an apology. They don't tell me I owe them for garbage, and what bk did was garbage.

But they do have to abide by contracts. If you agree in Jan to buy FCOJ in April for 1.42 a pound because you think the cold winter will damage crops but it turns out that it did not and the price crashes to .29 cents a pound you still have to pay 1.42 per lb to the people you agreed to buy from.

If the apples make people sick they would be contaminated that would be cause and probably nullify any contract. If you fire a coach for cause such as violating NCAA rules or he’s arrested for a felony or DUI or domestic violence or something you don’t owe him anything. However if you have cause you are obligated to act on it immediately not wait til after an embarrassing home loss.

He took over a program that went 12-13 the 2 years prior and won the SEC West year one. He had the 3rd best record in the SEC over his first 3 years. Now going to the Generic Corp Sponsor Bowl may not be what we wanted but it’s not the football equivalent of contaminated food.

If you want to require making the playoffs every year and winning the NC by year 4 you are free to do so, you could also offer a 5 year contract instead of 10 or no buyout if fired for any reason but given the current market probably won’t be able to hire a quality coach. The contract LSU agreed to was 10 years guaranteed, they fired him after less than 4, they owe him the rest, pay it and move on. Tortured analogies to commodities or contractors won’t change that. It’s still not your money so don’t worry about it.
