THAT was the problem.Georgia missed two or three tips and knocked it out of bounds with :01. John Williams did throw the ball in. But he was confused thinking once he threw it time would expire. He threw it past midcourt and it went out of bounds with no one touching it. Turnover.

I meant (not over the center line).
I kinda remember another game where we ALMOST handed the ball to the opponent under their goal and they beat us much the same way ..
can not remember the game....also in the 80s

I remember playing a game, I am almost sure against Indiana, where Shaquille was on fire !!!
we were almost 20 points ahead and was brought to the bench to rest and ended up losing the game ...
never could regain the "killer instinct" of the early part of the game.

The Bo Rein tragedy, had that not happened, would have changed the course of LSU football in a BIG bold and very good way. Many of us knew what we lost at the time in 1980. I am not ashamed to admit I shed tears over it.

I would consider this a missed opportunity but not sure how big it was. I remember reading in Pete Finney's book, The Fighting Tigers;: Seventy-five years of LSU football, that before LSU hired Paul Deitzel, a young, up and coming coach from Miami of Ohio was recommended and interested in the HC job. LSU didn't hire him because they didn't want to because he was under contract to another school.

The biggest disappointment in 08 wasn't the offense, it was the defense.

it was the Iowa St - Okla St game on a rainy cold Friday night in Ames in 2011. Two Okla St women's basketball coaches were killed in a plane crash the day before so naturally the football team was very distracted. OSU had a 24-7 lead that faded away. Still OSU came within a few inches of winning the game on a last second FG. Iowa St won in 2 OTs erasing the importance of LSU's win over Bama in the "game of the century"and sent Bama into the BCS title game in a rematch with LSU. Instead of an easy LSU win over Okla St and a Tiger dynasty, Bama humiliates us, big time recruits switch from LSU to Bama, and Bama has the dynasty.

Fess Irvin missed free throw to seal the deal for Daddy Dale going to another final 4..... in the SUPERDOME. Screw Bobby Knight and the refs for not giving him a Technical when he SLAMMED a phone down on the scoring table when he didn't get his way. Well, he got his way by not getting a T by the scared refs and the rest is history.

I was there. yes Rudy's injury impacted us, but a whole lot more was going on than that hand

I think LSU topped Bama once 2009(?) since Saban went Gump.

This game quite possibly changed the landscape of college football.

At the time Les was 3-2 vs Saban. Had 1 championship at LSU to 0 for Nick at Alabama. If OKST beats Iowa State, LSU destroys OKST in the championship game, and that LSU team goes down as the best team in history. Les Miles would have been 3-2 vs Saban and would have had had 2 to Sabans 1 Natty at LSU, and Bama has 0 in the BCS era.

Bama and Nick won in 2009! It's not a given that we beat OKST although the odds would have been better.

They smoked UGA 42-10 and your dumb shite makes no sense.
ST and D combined for 14 of the 42 and offense scored 28.

Do we win that game without the Honey Badger?
1st TD of 2nd half was set up by a turnover and last TD was a Pick 6 from Claiborne. We had 237 yards Total Offense and JJ threw for 30 yards.

We were on the ropes and ST and defense won the game.

Conjecture and maybe, maybe not. Great players helped like the rest of the year.

BS.
The Miles D was great, Miles ST was great, Miles offense was good enough to score 4tds, a couple on short drives and a couple on long drives.
The Dawgs were done well before Mo's INT.
Just like it all belonged to Orgeron in '17, it all belonged to Miles.

It's the most lopsided LSU victory in a SECCG ever and not sure what your problem is with it or why it grates on you.

OK.. So the offense only had long drives for two TD'S... Ok... You make it sound like the offense won that game... which is stupid... They had ZERO 1st downs in the 1st half.... The defense and ST play won that game.... There is really nothing to debate about here....

It was a team effort peej. I didn't make it sound like anything other than 28pts by the O and 14pts by D.

If it was won on ST and D alone the final score would've been 14-10 and LSU would've been behind practically the whole game, or possibly even lost without the long drives.
I'll even be upfront and say one of the long drives didn't consume but a few minutes before like a 50yd TD run was busted IIRC.

It ain't rocket science and not sure why there's a debate either.
Seems some folk just compulsively gotta shite on something LSU related.

I am not shitting on anything... You made it sound like the offense WON that game when they clearly did not...............

But back on topic... The Bama game was A setback we are STILL feeling.... 1-9-12 was A total disaster ALL AROUND.. except the defense which held its own with the offense being so terrible...

I know you are A MILES lover but even yOU can't say anything different about that.........

At least I would hope so.............
