when RJF had to measure up his athleticism, he was far from a freak. that's why he fell so far in teh draft

Marcus Spears is worth mentioning here.

not really. i think tyson jackson was pretty equal to spears, and i fully expect montgomery and mingo to blow both out of the water when they get tested

interesting note that B.C. Jr. played at ATM as a safety / Linebacker and also returned kicks. He was damn good at it.

Good enough to go in the first round. Injury against the Saints ended his career.

not even close. dorsey's tested athleticism was not good at all for a DT, let alone being close to being a freak

That's not true at all. I disagree. I'm not going to even waste my breath on this arguement. My god.

it is true

i actually did a breakdown of every workout compared to the DTs in that draft class. i don't even know if any of his workouts were top half of that year

Pro Day Results

quote:

Dorsey ran between a 5.08 and 5.14 40-yard dash, had a 25 1/2-inch vertical jump, an eight-foot, four-inch broad jump, a 4.92-second short shuttle, a 7.61-second three-cone drill and completed 27 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

which workout was freakish?

Mike the Tiger would whip anyones arse! People just wave and smile. He sits back, licks his lips, chills by the pool.

Cannon was a freak, it's just hard to compare him to players nowadays, considering it was over 50 years ago.

not only that, but there isn't objective data to even judge him against his own competition, let alone competition from today

He's on the football team now and ironicly, his name is the Freak. He will lead LSU with about 20-25 sacks over the next two years and he's off to the pros. Strongest lower body that I've ever seen for a d-lineman.

If he could stay healthy, he'd be compared to Ronnie Lott. He is a huge hitter at 212 lbs.

Actually, the fact that Billy Cannon is the only athlete in SEC history to win the premier sprint (100 yard dash at his time as opposed to the 100 meter today) and the shot put in the SEC championships is enough to make him a "freak".

Now, combine that with winning the Heisman Trophy.
