I would say Jack Hunt. He was a walk on and developed into a great safety.........

I'm going with eric reid! two year's watching him play and i still haven't seen a ball thrown over his head. Maybe 1 busted coverage but that's about it. His ball skill at safety are off the charts and he can hit with the best of them (then stand over you). He will be the number 1 safety in college going into this year so all he has too do is repeat what he did last year on the best defense in the country and his awards will role in.

Chad Jones is my second favorite Tiger of all time behind Kevin Faulk and Laron Landry is also very high on the list, but Ryan Clark was a better safety than they were. I'm too young to know many before them.

Ryan Clark was average at best at LSU. Your using his success in the NFL and projecting it to his career at LSU. Same with Matt Flynn. Avg at LSU, done well in the nfl and all the sudden he was great at LSU.

Laron Landry was the best in last twenty years to play at LSU.

Ryan Clark has had the best NFL career

Greg Jackson had a better NFL career, Casanova made 3-4 pro bowls.

Difficult to say, I would say that as far as hitting goes Landry struck fear into receivers and definitely messed up their composure. CJ was more of a speedy ball-hawk guy that occasionally came up to lay the wood. Both were exceptional play-makers and leaders for their team. Jack Hunt and Craig Steltz were similar in that they weren't great but not terrible either, very good game managers and rarely gave up big plays. Ryan Clark was similar to Landry but I believe in his prime Clark had more instinct and coverage ability. Lets just say LSU aka DBU has had some tremendous talent in the secondary over the years.

I will say this, Eric Reid has the potential to surpass them all if he chooses to finish out his college career. His effort against Bama in Tusc on the goal-line single handily won us the game. Also I went back and thoroughly watched both the TUSC and NCG and Eric Reid was the Kryptonite to Richardson's "super powers".

Wasn't the best career (should have started earlier) But Craig Steltz's one year starting was as good as anyone's.

101 tackles T-Ist on team
3 FF Ist on team
6 picks 1st on team
All- American
All Sec
Thopre award finalist

Would have been one of the greatest careers if he had started three years like he should have over Jessie Daniels Still tied for first on the team with 4 picks as a back up in 2006
