Pistol, Magic, and Larry Bird

Who keeps downvoting the Chris Jackson posts?
He is the most obvious choice for any LSU fan that started watching basketball after Maravich (ie the last ~50 years).
That kid was electric and could dominate a game as a small PG.

Pistol is the Correct Answer. No one even comes close.

The Pistol and it is not even a race for 1st place in greatest college basketball player

Went to Cameron a few weeks ago and saw Georgia Tech v. Duke. Zion is probably the most impressive college basketball player I've seen in person. Shaq is a close second. After that is Chris Weber. I was at the timeout championship game against UNC in the Dome.

Pistol is most likely the correct answer if you SAW him play. So for anyone under 60, you likely will have a different answer. For me it is definitely CJ.

Maravich was a scoring freak show. And as an LSU fan, I naturally recognizer his greatness.
But Alcindor was the best college player I ever saw. You would not believe how athletic he was as a 20 year old. Just dominated on both ends of the floor. Most people only remember him as a slow, lumbering player for the Lakers at the end of his career. Not me.

Pete-no question.
He was better during his freshman season than any one-and-done player of this generation or anybody else over all of these many years.

In terms of a 4 year career, Christian Laetner is the Tom Brady of college basketball. A lot of guys had a year or two where they dominated. Larry Bird took Indiana St to the final. Kenyan Martin’s senior year was beastly till he was injured. Zion this year.
And obviously guys like Pistol, Kareem, bill Russell. But they were before my time. As was Larry in college.
