The question is not whether he had one or both feet inbounds. The question is, did he have possession of the ball. For an SEC replay official to overturn the call on the field, PP would have had to catch the ball with both hands, bring it into his chest, cover it with both arms and take at least two more steps inbounds. Then they would CONSIDER overturning it. And don't quote me lines from the rulebook. SEC replay officials are not bound by the rules.

He does not have control in that pic.

What does two hands wrapped around the football constitute? Control!

the ball never moves out of his control once it hits his hands. He never bobbles the ball. Once it hit his hands, it stuck. He had control immediately

No Control? Control is the one thing the replays showed at full speed. Peterson got the ball in his hands and brought it into his body before he stopped running. I never doubted control. It took onw replay for me to see that he was in bounds, but only one. This was a jobbing.
I would have liked to have seen at least one of our coaches get thrown out of the game arguing.

Great photo, but I already knew he was in......In fact the officials had to see the same thing that we all saw Saturday. The only thing that I can say is that I was not surprised by the call. It happens every year at Alabama.

You cant even tell if his right foot is on the ground in that picture...

From where I was sitting, I was blocked by the LSU sideline, but two things stood out to me at the time. The first was that when the ref announced on the stadium PA, his words were "The ruling on the field is -----" The stadium PA went out. No one in the stands knew what the ruling on the field was. Second, during the review, the bama fan sitting in front of me was listening to Eli Gold's broadcast of the game and he turned around and told everyone around us that Eli says its and interception.

He had control of the ball with his left foot clearly in bounds, then he had control again with his right foot clearly throwing up sod. This was all about getting to the "middle" at this point of the game--9.5 down to 7.5--Somebody made a bunch of money!

Look at his left foot in that photo. It is clearly coming up off the ground right past the 31 yard line. If you look at other photos, this step (the one his left foot is coming up from) is his second step with the ball in his hands and is the same step as the one that left the infamous sod mark. This photo shows his right foot either already down or mere centimeters from stepping down, which is the second step with his right foot. This angle clears up any questions about whether his right foot came down in bounds or not. So, even if you argue that he did not have possession with the 1st in bounds step of his right foot or even with the first in bounds step of his left foot, he got a THIRD foot down in bounds. He did not juggle the ball at all, he caught it soundly in his hands and pulled it in just as a receiver would normally try to do to establish possession.
What an absolute travesty.

They ripped the SEC yesterday and both said LSU was jobbed FWIW
That picture makes me want to beat something or someone but I'm like LSU's coach, taking the high road, can't change anything at this point but

Ref had a clear line of sight.
I don't give a rat's arse if he was standing right next to Julio when the play was made. It's perfectly understandable how the guys on the field could miss the call. It was a bang-bang play.
My problem with the entire episode is that some guy is paid to sit in a booth and watch SLOW MOTION REPLAYS of plays so that the correct call is made, yet he still can't get it right!!!! That's my beef.
It's not just this play, either. There have been dozens of others in SEC games over the last five or six years, and it seems to just get worse and worse.
It should have been an easy call to make. The overhead end zone view CBS had shows clearly that Peterson had his left foot in bounds. All the replay official has to do is ask the truck to freeze the frame at that moment then give him another view from that exact time code, and he can decide from another angle whether the catch was made.
It ain't rocket science. Believe me. I've worked dozens of ballgames, and the person who runs the replay for the game can sync up the views and give it to the replay booth in split screen if they want.
I don't know if it's just a case of not wanting to make the officials on the field look bad, or what, but when you have the luxury of getting to look at a play in SLOW MOTION, there is simply no excuse to still get it wrong unless you are brain-dead.

That is a great shot. That clears it up for me. The replay ref thought Chad Jones made the interception - and his foot is definitely out of bounds.
