You can post all the stats you want. None of that speaks to controlling the tempo of the game and seeing the court in a way like no other player. Mays and Smart are left wanting when compared to Waters or even someone like Darrell Mitchell. Mays was constantly out of control and smart was FAR too stiff. Their is little to no fluidity to his game. Just look at his “set shot”. It is kinda embarrassing and not really translatable.

You want to see a true point guard? Watch Ethan Martin, Derrick Taylor and CJ/ MAB. All three of them could take over a game from the guard spot. I never got that feeling from Mays or Smart.
The other guys I mentioned all could go left as easy as right.

You want to see the greatest ball handler. Go watch Pete clips. End of discussion.

Mays didn’t even play point guard for Wade but don’t tell idiots like Lester that. People like him have no idea what they’re watching.

You think 40% 3pt shooters are embarrassing but not the below average college shooter in waters lol ?

Lol, always lying about easily checkable facts. He didn’t shoot 40% but more to the point is your real time criticisms about Waters while he and Mays were playing together. During Waters final season you made these same attacks on shooting percentages even lying about his numbers but never a peep about Mays shooting 31% or 23% during SEC play. See now you can go back and try to distort history but for those of us who witnessed your hypocrisy, double standards and lies we know better. Mays wasn’t even a point guard under Wade, you’re just using this thread to try and shite on Waters some more because you’re still mad your predictions about him made you look like an idiot.

Most people would be glad they underestimated a player who turned out to be great for LSU but not you, you’re a sociopath posing as an LSU fan who cares more about being right to a group of anonymous people than LSU being successful. The kicker is that you’re almost always wrong anyway and nobody respects your opinions because of your narcissistic ways. They call that poetic justice.

He was what he was a good college player but definitely not a point guard or fluid. That was my point but go ahead and try to divert. Smart is not a very fluid player like a guard is supposed to be. Hell, John Williams and Jerry Reynolds were both more fluid than Smart. But what do you expect when that stick Tasmin Mitchell is on the sidelines coaching.

Waters was a point guard, Mays was a 2 guard who got a lot of open looks off of dribble penetration by Waters. Waters wasn’t spotting up the way Mays was so it stands to reason who’d have the higher percentage. Duop Reath shot a higher percentage than both Naz Reid and Trendon Watford but you don’t see people saying he was the better player. These are the stupid arguments you get when people like Lester ignore reality then take carefully selected qualifiers and base a total evaluation on that bias. It’s why he’s known as the worst player evaluator on the Rant regardless of the sport.

I think of Skylar Mays as a two-guard a lot more than a true PG, although he was capable when called upon.

For me, Tremont was the best PG I've seen at LSU in a long, long time. That kid was a lot of fun to watch when he heated up and started making ridiculous off-platform scoop shots, too.

How is a career 35.1% = 40%? You see how you arbitrarily pick one and not the other. Once again I see how you flat out lie.

Skylar Mays was a combo guard & shared PG duties. Everyone but Madking realizes that

I took each of their last years. I don’t think arbitrary means what you think it does. Had Waters stayed in school like he should have maybe we see the improvement of what was an other wise below avg shooter

This thread feels like it was started with the purpose of putting Smart down.

It would be like starting a thread of O’s best starting QBs:

Burrow
Max
Etling
Brennan

Actually OP is worse cuz I’d I did a direct comparison to his PG list it’dbe:

Burrow
Darrell Williams (wildcat)
Brennan

Wrong, Smart was moved to the point guard position after Waters left and Wade constantly talked about that transition during that season. If Mays were the point guard there’d be no reason to change Smart’s position. Just because a perimeter player handles the ball on sets called for him doesn’t make him a point guard. Cam brought the ball up and started sets with the ball in his hand, was he the point guard too? You don’t know what you’re talking about because you don’t know anything about basketball.
