PK - Browndyke hands down
P- Kessler (all-american 1997, hold the NCAA record for punting average 50.3 yds... granted whitten did pooch punt so he just bombed away, but still impresive)
Apparently to some people, having the highest punting average in NCAA history is nothing special.

Tommy Davis. Money, pure money. Went on to a long career with the 49ers.

Jesus, I just got ill. Heard missed 2 gimmes inside 25 yards that could have won the game v bama back in 67. Hell all we needed was 1.

what was the first name of that kicker from the 80's, something Lafleur??????????

I dunno. Which one had the best 40 time?

Sounds familiar. I remember a Rene Bourgeois who once made a really great escape in the backfield and got off an awesome punt on a running scramble.

Hey... How can no one have mentioned Pedro Suarez?

He sucked at kickoffs.
Rarely a problem in those days.

Anders...without question.

I'd say Browndyke without hesitation, although it is a little tarnished due to that miss at the end of the game against Ole Miss.
Thanks for making me relive that horrible day in my life. I could not even play "Fight for LSU" on my horn I was so upset. I just stood there with the horn up at playing position. When I got home, I drank three beers and then called my parents, slightly drunk, and crying because we lost to those damned redneck bastards from Mississippi.
There's also the Alabama game in 1985, which had we gotten a field goal in that one we would have won and not tied them. That was an upsetting game as well.

It's amazing to think that LSU would have won the SEC title 5 years in a row had they just been able to beat Bama at home in 1985 and 1987, and LSU was the better team both years. That curse really blew big time.

hmmm, Doc counting the '84 year. As he should. I like the way you think, Doc. (and I hate florida.)

Might have been Tommy Davis. He could do it all. One of the last straight on kickers. Played for San Francisco 49ers. Punted, Kick offs, Field Goals.
