You are generally what your average says you are. By the time you get to the postseason, the huge variations generally have ironed themselves out...so a .300 hitter that's 1/4 is fairly likely to get a hit in his next at bat. It is not always black and white, but playing the law of averages is rarely a poor decision.

So wouldn't that make pitching to him the correct decision, since the next batter had a higher average?
Obviously, in hind sight, it was wrong. I can't help but wonder if this same thread would have been made today, just with a different complaint, if Mainieri had walked the batter and the next guy got a hit.

College baseball is boring AF once LSU is eliminated every season.

Jung isnt even there best hitter. The guy hitting after him is who leads the team in all offensive categories and owns a 10% K rate.
Jung has a 13% K rate, fwiw.
Mendona had a 22% K rate way below average. These guys are hitting 40 and 50 points better than he was, mind you.

I enjoy the CWS every year. It's obviously much better with LSU in it, but I usually don't miss many games.
I really like college baseball though. I'll watch whoever is on the ESPN app play a midweek game if LSU isn't on at that time.

Simply put, you guys need to watch more baseball if you think McDonald is good. He is passable for college baseball, but it is not 1990 anymore.
McDonald is the type of guy that says "tie goes to the runner" ,or "its an error if it hits his glove" or cites batting average before a slash line.

I just have the game on in the backround. Tech is losing. The Michigan pitcher is throwing flame. And while Jung is a great hitter, the guy behind him is inarguably better.
