He beat ken griffey jr in a slam dunk contest

He was a tremendous athlete. He was a bigger basketball recruit than baseball recruit, and as a punter, he could've easily been a three sport athlete at LSU.

However, I did run him off the court as a 13 year old at the Dale Brown basketball camp (not really but I have that same picture from the same camp).

It’s crazy how every time Big Ben calls a game these threads get started by different people. Obviously I agree with everything being said. Ben is the man. When I turn on the game and I hear his voice, I’m like yes sir!

I was thinking last night… during his story about the slam dunk contest that Ben McDonald might be the greatest, definitely the coolest, Tiger of all time.

He has lived a very accomplished life and seems to be salt of the earth. What a DUDE.

He even brings out more personality in the other announcers that he works with.

He and Dave Delucci in the same booth is must-listen stuff. Hope they do an LSU/Ole Miss broadcast again this year.

I had one of his baseball cards as a kid and it said he enjoyed wrestling alligators
