LSU coach Les Miles told reporters last year, “If they serve beer in Tiger Stadium, I fear that the upper decks might not hold it.”

The same concerns aren’t felt at Louisville, where Klein said the university “has a lot of measures in place that take away what you might think are bad elements for the general fan who just wants to sit there, have a beer and watch the game.”

The school cuts off alcohol sales at a certain point during in each game and hires security — both uniformed and undercover — to monitor over-indulgence and under-aged drinking. Centerplate Concessions, which partners with the university, has a training program in place for anyone selling alcohol at games.

The NCAA bans alcohol sales only during NCAA championships. That's the only rule restricting sales that affects college sports.

I once was told by someone in the AD office that the SEC strongly discourages the sale of alcohol at SEC events, but will not prohibit it. He said once an SEC school starts selling beer, most others will follow, including LSU.

I can only imagine what LSU would charge for a beer.

Well, it'll cost $7-8 now in the champions club and stadium club. Pretty sure it won't be any cheaper!

People are going to drink in TS whether they serve it or not. Serving beer might reduce the amount of people mixing liquor drinks.

Not to mention the beer line alone would most likely prevent over indulgence.

How much more money would this bring to LSU? I would think at least an extra $350k per game
The LSUAD would need it to defend all the lawsuits that would arise from allowing even more alcohol in TS.

Yeah, what we really need is more drunken bufoons in the stadium.

Never have and never will understand that entire "Gotta drink to have a good time" mentality. If you can't enjoy an LSU athletic event without drinking, then you've got some mental and emotional issues to deal with.

Just seeing this. Good lord people will perpetuate this dumbass rumor until their dying breathe. I love how someone linked the article and the dude still argued against it because he read one sentence.

I thought they had some legalese on the back of the tickets to combat most of that.

According to numbers provided by West Virginia, the concessionaire, Sodexo, sold 21,811 bottles of domestic beer at $7 each and 10 kegs of beer from Morgantown Brewing Co. at $9 per 20-ounce cup during the Mountaineers’ rain-soaked home opener. WVU, which plans to continue alcohol sales in the Big 12 next season, sold more beer than they did souvenir cups of soda (8,999), cups of frozen lemonade (8,908) and bottles of soda (2,906) combined, with the sales grossing $160,656. Against LSU three weeks later, the beer sales raked in $255,396.

Your welcome WVU.

No shite. He read ULL in the headline and then said I didn't know what I was talking about even though the 2nd half of the article was an interview with Vincent discussing this exact topic at LSU.

So they could make 2 million maybe 2.5 at most? Peanuts compared to what the athletic department brings in.

no link, no proof, no official statement from the SEC

just because some beat writer says it, doesn't mean it's true.

If those West Virginia trash can handle it then LSU could...it's a precedent but not a rule in SEC. Everybody is waiting for somebody to do it first then they will follow. It will catch on soon, too much revenue missed

VT fans calling anyone trash is amusing. But yeah, the alcohol sales have actually cut down on arrests and incidents tremendously because they cancelled pass out policy. People couldn't just go to the tailgates at halftime and get loaded .

i paid 5.50 for a water at the golden state warriors game tonight.

Can you imagine how much extra money they would get if they sold beer on those hot night games early in the season.
