That's awesome. I'm going down that way a little later and hope to get to watch them tomorrow.

So how does it work because those photos show different athletes with different numbers so I am assuming LSU has several teams. Is it just their top team competing right now or do they all play?

No. It’s a best of 5. So five pairs play against five pairs from the other school.

Why are they calling the "matches" duels?

Really confused me for a little bit

Also, are the numbers next to their name their individual ranking?

The pairs are numbered 1-5. So top pair at each school plays one another and so on.

Just terminology with the dual thing. It’s just a best of 5 match/game/duel. Each duel/pairing is best 2 out of 3.

At this national championship, yes.

Plenty of other non traditional beach schools have teams though.

Because the duals are made up of matches.

2 out of 3 games wins a match. 3 out of 5 matches wins the dual. They just need a word besides game or match, since those are already taken.

Starting now. Five courts in action. They show the most interesting court on TV. The ESPN app has every court available.

If LSU gets to the next round, they will face UCLA (more than likely). LSU's number 1 pair has lost 2 of their three matches this year to the UCLA number 1 pair.

My question:

Is there anything that is stopping LSU from dropping everyone down a court and playing their number 5 pair against UCLA's number 1 pair?

Basically concede that match and say that our top 4 can take 3 out of 4 against their other 4 pairs?
