Is the BCS Championship game supposed to have the two best teams in college football playing in it? If so, there is a possibility that LSU and Auburn are the two best teams in college football. Should the cards fall that way, they would have every right to play in the championship game despite playing earlier in the year. Ofcourse that will never happen because of the system. What do you guys think?

This is 100% correct, IMO.

The people who say LSU got there chance and someone else should have a chance to beat Auburn even if there resume isn't as good as LSU's, I don't get that at all.

Obviously, we're a long shot to get there, but theoretically if Oregon, Boise, and TCU all lose a game, you'll have a tough time convincing me that another 1 loss team has a better resume than LSU considering our schedule. Not to mention, we'd obviously have the "Best" loss of those teams.

Like you said, the idea of the title game is to put the 2 best teams from the regular season, so I don't see why they can't come from the same division in a conference, whether it involves LSU or not.

Was it '06 when they (sports writers/talking heads) were crying for Ohio/Michigan rematch for BCS Championship?

Now that it could be 2 SEC schools....not a peep about a rematch.

You're acting like there is a bias against the SEC and that is certainly not true.

To be fair, it's because Michigan was #3 going into that final game and after they lost, Ohio State was the only undefeated team in the top 5.

Why would anyone be talking about a rematch now when there are 4 undefeated teams ranked ahead of LSU?

If 2 or 3 of those teams get knocked off, of course they will start talking about it.

All the talking heads predict auby to lose to bama, they have been for weeks. No mention of any other undefeated having a chance to lose. If Ore, and Boise lose this weekend, and auby and LSU win...you know all they will say is "LSU is unworthy", "auby should be banned because of Cam", "it should be TCU vs a non SEC team".

I think the standard should be the two most worthy teams in the sense of what did you accomplish. Best requires thinking about what you could accomplish. Both are subjective, but worthy can bring more objective data to the table. This is really what the models mostly measure.

I remember Brent Musburger all but guaranteeing a rematch in the BCSCG.

Have faith. Friday is the day. Auburn, Oregon and Boise all have tough games. Two of the three lose and we beat Arky and it could be LSU vs one of them.

Exactly. I think the goal is to find the 2 most deserving teams, not necessarily the best. For example, TCU might very well be the best team in the country, but as of right now, they are not deserving of getting the chance to prove it.

Different time ... different system

It's not impossible though.

This does not prove that there is an SEC bias, not at all.

Like they did in 2007 when every talking head was all over LSU all year and we jumped about 3 or 4 two loss teams in the final week of the season? Was there an SEC bias there?

it's probably because they know how good alabama is. while oregon plays arizona. boise is at nevada and i won't even mention whom tcu plays.

but no it's the sec bias. you're right

I don't think it is fair to Auburn. They beat us and physically dominated us on both lines of scrimmage. No matter what anybody says we got beat by 14. Chizik had Newton take a knee. Brad Edwards says the human polls are dominant in the new formula. You have to be top 2 to make it in the Champ Game. We can cry all we want but we lost that game. It makes me angry too, but when you lose a big game like that it's almost worth 2 losses in the SEC West. The bottom line is in losing the Auburn game you took the fate out of your hands and gave it to someone else. It's not like were Auburn a few years ago when they ran the table and got left out.

As was pointed out, it was a different system and it wasn't a national championship game. FSU and Arizona State were both undefeated and ranked 1-2. ASU lost to #4 Ohio State 20-17 in the Rose and #3 Florida beat #1 FSU 52-20 in the Sugar. The AP awarded Fl the national championship. If the BCS had been in place, FSU would have played ASU in a championship game and Spurrier would have never won a national championship.

I guess on some level that's OK, but on a championship level, I want to see the two best teams go at it.

The BCS is all about money and nothing else. The powers that be could care less if the two "best" teams match up for the championship. Check out this book.
