I agree it's so ridiculous that Texas' mascot is the longhorns. I have NEVER seen a longhorn in Austin.

While we're on the subject, Mike the Tiger isn't even a Bengal tiger

actually he is a bengal siberian mix, so technically he is a bengal.

Actually, they have a live mascot named Bevo. Also, there are longhorns in the pasture across from the Airport Fast Park by the Austin Airport.

You can argue that it's a stupid mascot or make fun of the people who have their picture taken with Bevo on gameday, but there ARE longhorns in Austin.

I thought Mike was part BENGAL tiger. For anyone who doesn't know the significance of being the Bengal tigers here are some interesting facts I learned from discovery one day.

Bengal Tigers are the only tigers that actually hunt humans. These tigers are found in a region called Bengal which is in Africa. This area is closed off to the population and only few government officials can go in this area. Also, these tigers have no problem attacking from water. Actually, that is how they prefer to sneak attack. They also hold their breath under water. This region is similar to the bayou regions of Louisiana.

Although we are named after the civil war soldiers from Louisiana who were badasses, those soldiers were named after badass tigers.

I also love the name bayou bengals,.....and to an ouder LSU can look like its on the bayou. The lakes have cypress trees with spanish moss so even though they're man-made lakes, to an out of stater, they could think theyre bayous.
