Baws Traveling to Mizzou - Restaurant Guide

Accommodations - There are few hotel rooms in Columbia. Start calling NOW. You could end up in Jefferson City or St. Louis. If it is the latter then check out the Missouri Athletic Club (mac-stl.org). The rooms are old and small, but they are also clean, comfortable, and cheap. The Jack Buck Grill inside the MAC is a good restaurant and you can smoke cigars there after 3:00 pm.
Jackson, Mississippi - Schlotzsky's in Madison. Sorry, but that is the only place I've ever eaten in Jackson.
Memphis, Tennessee - Any of the barbecue joints are the same. They are all good. For fried chicken skip Gus's. It is nothing special at all. Go to Uncle Lou's and get it dipped in hot sauce. It is worth driving out of your way.
Caruthersville / Hayti, Missouri Exit - Chubby's barbecue. Ribs or pulled pork either one are good. Patty Ann's has good food, ample portions, and is reasonably priced.
Sikeston, Missouri - Lambert's. Since its reputation proceeds it I will forego any commentary.
Cape Girardeau, Missouri - Nothing other than fast food by the interstate.
Perryville, Missouri - Congratulations! You have left the United States and entered Germany. Perryville is ground zero of the Great Saxon Lutheran Migration. No special restaurants but there is a decent sausage store named Stonie's (pronounced stah-nee). They have something like 25 different types of bratwurst which I think is trying way too hard. However, their original bratwurst and bacon bratwurst are both good.
Ste. Genevieve, Missouri - Congratulations! You have left Germany and entered France. There were French in Missouri before Louisiana and they too had their own unique dialect called Paw Paw French. However, you would be hard pressed to find more than 10 people alive who can still speak it fluently. Ste. Genevieve is to the Paw Paw French pretty much the same as what Lafayette is to the Cajun French. Oberle's (pronounced oh-bur-lee) has a lot of unique sausages ranging from bratwurst to blood sausage. Their original bratwurst is very good. Their cajun bratwurst is just their original with cayenne pepper. Those too are good if that is what you are in the mood for.
St. Louis, Missouri - First off, how many of you know that St. Louis was founded by New Orleanians? Well, it was. They wanted a trading post on the Upper Mississippi River and its confluence with the Missouri River seemed like a pretty good place to put it. But anything labeled St. Louis style sucks. St. Louis style barbecued ribs suck. St. Louis style pizza is thin crust with provel cheese and cut into squares. It sucks. Ooey gooey butter cake is a culinary abortion and sucks. The only food St. Louis ever invented and got right is toasted ravioli and it took Italian immigrants to come up with that. In fact it is hard to go wrong with any Italian restaurant in St. Louis. The best restaurant in town is Tony's.

When in Columbia, one simply must eat at Shakespeare's Pizza.

Seems like the main ingredient you need to this guide would be info in the city we are actually playing in

Was coming here just to post this. Was even worth the wait after the game.

Columbia - Booches is #1 for everyone. Its always talked about on air during ESPN games, since the crew always goes there.
After Booches..Flat branch, Shakespeare's(also popular), addisons, the heidelberg, D Rowes, and 44 canteen
Best bars - #1 Harpos(college bar), Shiloh's(alum bar), rooftop at hilton(upscale with a view), fieldhouse (college bar), flat branch brewery, Shakespeare's.

OH LAWD.
If you want to feel close to home, sister cities(rough area) or Roadhouse 66(nice area) or Broadway oyster bar for all things Cajun.
If you want legit, Italian food, straight from Italians, in a starkly Italian town, visit the neighborhood of "The Hill".

Dude, you have to understand where I am from. In the Bootheel we are closer to Memphis than St. Louis and consider it to be "our city." We are closer to Ole Miss than Mizzou.
I never liked Mizzou or wanted to go to school there. They have too many yankees. In fact if I even enter Boone County I break out in hives.

That’s cool and all but if I make a “Traveling to Baton Rouge” guide for an LSU game and then go “you’re on your own” for any restaurants that aren’t in Hammond, Laffy, or lake Charles, it would be kind of weird

This #1 ranking is deserved, IMO. I think the flat top they cook the burgers on is about 150 years old (I'm not really exaggerating all that much).
If you like craft breweries, Log Boat is really great. I don't know right now if open for people to hang out though unfortunately. If they are, we will probably stop there on our way back to St Louis. We are in the process of getting tickets to the game right now.

Ozark Mountain Biscuit Company food truck in Columbia is pretty good. They move every day so you'll have to see where they are on any given day.
Fontenot's in Fulton, MO is pretty good Cajun food and that is roughly 40 minutes east of Columbia.
Marlene's diner, exit 161, in Williamsburg has a great burger and historical museum inside (free). Pretty neat visit if you have time as it is right off of 70.
For those traveling to COMO, be safe and enjoy the game.

I've had their food at Log Boat before, they are very good.

I will keep this in mind for the future, thank you.

Along with what MIZSlu said: Go to Harpos if possible and Booches has the best slider burgers I've ever had, bring cash though, they don't take card. I also recommend hitting up Broadway Diner for some breakfast if you get up early. COMO is a great college town, just absolutely sucks what COVID has done to it and that it can't be enjoyed like normal

Como restaurants-I agree with Booches. It’s a pool hall that’s been around since the 1800’s. Not a lot of seating even pre-Covid. Limited menu-mostly sliders and chili dogs. They’re closed on Sundays.
Booches
G&D’s is a casual steak house; you order in line and food is brought to your table. Steak sammich is awesome. Quick service, consistent product. It’s located on Stadium Dr, which also borders Mizzou’s stadium.
G&D’s Steak House
44 Stone, a “gastric pub”. Good food, on South Providence, which also borders the stadium.
44 Stone Pub
Not a fan of Shakespeare’s Pizza, but most people seem to like it. There is a great pizza place about 20 minutes away in Fulton’s Brick Disrict. . Beks is a really good restaurant a few doors down from there.
Beks in Fulton MO
Brooklyn Pizza Fulton MO
Fulton is also where Churchill delivered his Sinews of Peace/Iron Curtain speech.
Hotels:
Nice boutique hotel in “The District”. Glenns, in the lobby, is my favorite restaurant in town. As of right now, they still have rooms available. I honestly don’t think there will be a room shortage, but could be wrong.
Tiger Hotel
Glenn’s Cafe
Towne Place Suites is only 2 or 3 years old. It’s located a couple of exits from the stadium, very low traffic area.
Towne Place Suites CoMo.

Any worry you won’t be able to fly back Sunday?

Cape Girardeau - The Pilot House is a cool old hole in the wall. Katy O’Ferrels is a good Irish bar and restaurant in downtown.
St Louis - Charlie Gitto‘a on the Hill is a great old school Italian place.
If you are on the west side of town Pio’s in St Charles is another great Italian place.

If you want to greatest barbeque you will ever eat, take a 30-minute detour from I-55 to Strawberry's Barbeque in Holcomb, MO. Order the pork steak. Don't ask - just do it. It's like nothing you'll ever find, and you'll never forget how good it is. The ribs are a 10 out of 10 as well. Must order by 6:30-7:00 pm on Friday or Saturday to make sure they haven't run out. Take the Hayti-Caruthersville exit going north or the Portageville exit going south.

It sucks that we’re going to Como during this bs pandemic season because it’s an SEC road trip. I don’t care if it’s Missouri. It’s still an SEC town and it would be cool to go with a packed Faurot field and a decent mizzou team. It feels like a pre season game.

There is literally nothing in middle missouri. Besides kansas city to the far left, st louis to the far right there is absolutely shite in between lol. I was surprised tbh. There were seriously signs that said last exit for 40 miles on the interstate driving through the state. Columbia is literally in the middle of nowhere. St louis and kansas city comprise of 5 million people combined, other than that, there's only a little over a million people in the rest of the state lol. They had some great root beer though at some place we stopped in the middle of nowhere I do remember that though.
