Seemingly, it's just one reporter... that also said LSU basketball is more looked forward to this year then football.

It's not just one reporter or sports talk host. Clearly, I would have understood predicting 5 losses, if LSU hadn't signed a top kicker and top QB transfer.

O can still inherently neutralize all of that.

O can, but he can also have learned something from last seasons losses, the signing of a kicker and QB transfer tells me that.

Aren't you also one of the idiots that keeps posting about other QBs starting?

I agree. Anything worse than 9-3 will be a failure IMO.
The local and national narrative/perception has set the expectations at 7-8 wins, but that’s ridiculous. If we end with less than 9wins, I will be surprised and changes will certainly be coming because we will have underperformed.

All O ever does is react to problems after they've already cost us in games.
This season there will be a fresh new batch of problems. He'll say he'll address them in the offseason, and we'll keep on with this predictable cycle with him.

While I admit this is true, will be waiting to see what other changes from coach O occur this season, so that it doesn't cost LSU games.

Sure am glad games are played on the field.

Can't see us losing (5-0)
LA tech
Rice
Southeastern
Ole miss
Arkansas
Better chance at winning than losing (3-1)
Miami
Texas A&M
Miss state
Florida
Better chance at losing than winning (1-2)
Auburn
Alabama
Georgia
9-3 at worst.....half the sports writers and radio know it alls are still butt hurt because O was hired. He was by far not the best choice, but we still have talent and a few very good assistants that will help win more than we lose.

Listen, if we don't improve like we should, we will lose to Miami and get blown out by Auburn. At that point the losses will start piling up as well as the discontent.
Right now the OL could destroy this team. I know a lot you guys are overly optimistic about them, but I wasn't even before the suspension this off-season. LSU has two guys on the line with one year of starting experience, TWO. One of them is likely to move to center, something he has never played. We saw how the guys looked in the spring game, extremely awful, and now O says they looked awful in the first scrimmage.
The FPI has us with the 5th toughest schedule in the country and a couple of the teams we/they don't already take into consideration, will improve on last year (Florida, TAMU, Ole Miss).
This won't be like last year when the false narrative was that O 'turned the ship around'. We aren't playing a bunch of awful teams after bad losses again like 2017. If those first two losses happen in the first 3 games, you have UF on the road, an improved Miss St squad that blew us out last year, Bama AND UGA, and finish out with a Jimbo coached TAMU team. I know people don't want to believe it, but Jimbo is actually a good coach who just got fed up with FSU. He just didn't want to come to another shitty adminstration like LSU currently has. They have a QB in Starkel who will blow up this year plus return a previous 1000 yard rusher. These aren't gimme games. We aren't playing a bunch of coaches that will be fired during or after the season. We had a top 5 scoring defense in 2016, Fournette and Guice, and still managed to lose four regular season games.
While I am cautiously optimistic for this year, I could easily see the wheels coming off for a 7-5/6-6 season. At that point, you don't give O another year to continue to erode not only the program, but the fanbase.

Have you seen the schedule? 4 top ten teams. We lost to Troy less than a year ago with a 5th year QB. We have no RB on the entire team who has ever scored a touchdown. We just lost one of our best OL to suspension. We have no experience at QB. None. Our receivers have never done much no matter how deep people say they are. The one WR who has experience didn’t have it here. On defense we have a ton of talent that is gonna be on the field a lot. A lot lot lot lot lot. We’ve got fat DL that may or may not make it all season due to being so overweight or injury prone. We have 1 corner that we know can play. After that we have hope. We have a head coach that the entire football universe makes fun of and a new OC that hasn’t OC’d since Clinton was getting his dick sucked in the Oval Office.
So basically that’s why people don’t respect us whether you’re from Baton Rouge or Honolulu. There is a lot of hope. There is a lot of potential. I for one cling to optimism but I’ve been disappointed a lot the past few years. So maybe they aren’t clueless but just realistic.
Look at all this truth right here. I too am optimistic, and also see the major problems we have that could and likely will derail the season. We think like rational people, more realistic. We don't automatically say we'll lose a lot because Orgeron, neither do we say we'll just win because "insert all the extreme biases towards LSU football here".
Before Burrow I had 7-5/6-6, after Burrow I had 9-3 After OL suspension and O saying we still look like shite on OL, I could see us losing an extra game (Miami because we might not be ready).

These are all 50/50 games right now.
You don't lose to a State team that brings back almost all of the team that beat you by, 30 and say your team, with way less than the year before, is more likely to win.
You don't say your team is more likely to beat a Miami team that finished 10-3 and is coached by a guy that beat you several times this century.
You don't say your team is more likely to beat a UF team that is not only piloted by a coach that destroyed you last year with another program with less talent, but that coach has also been 2-2 with you and that 4-8 UF was a missed FG away from beating you last year. People counting UF as a win are extremely baffling to me. I have it as a toss up at best with us more than likely to lose.

quote:Nah, not really. LSU is the money bag to draw sales, and it's preseason, so of course there will be positive pieces.
Their reporting is all over the place concerning LSU football. Clueless seems the most appropriate term.
But when it comes down to it, you also have to try to put some realistic and believable predictions out, when it comes time for that- or you lose all credibility.
And like others have noted, it's not like this is one isolated guy in an otherwise positive sea... everyone- the polls, Vegas, etc- they have the Tigers right around 7-8 wins.

When are we going to turn the OP over to the OT sleuths so he can be outed? It’s pretty obvious he’s a plant from this regime to pump sunshine on this board. My guess is it’s one of Derek’s boys. Every thread is more ridiculous than the previous. Use your powers TD!

Nah TTT was the biggest negatiger on TD last year after Troy. He was ready to fire everybody. Then completely reversed course after UF game...similar to what you see now
He's freezing cold or boiling hot...there is no rationality in between.

I can see defending a position where LSU losses less than. five games is being a firecracker, it’s the ones predicting losing 5 to 6 who are duds.LOL
