Don't be a pussy. This team is being undercut due the the failures of the conference and the lack of big matchups. LSU teams that have made it to the sweet 16, elite 8 , and beyond have struggled in similar spots and lost. If this team flops when the time comes, I'll eat it, but I believe, and I've been around for a while
Not being a pussy at all. Just being realistic. I'm excited about our success, don't get me wrong, but I am not going to get too carried away.

It sounds like you are being pretty passionate about a sport outside the big 3. If you say that we are almost even in football, you are a little better in basketball and we blow you away in baseball,

FWIW, the top two are the top two everywhere. The 3rd sport varies by area. You're from the south, so for you, it's baseball, but it's not like that everywhere. In the northeast, it's college lacrosse, maybe hockey. In the midwest, it's wrestling. It changes depending on where you are. Most people, in general, really don't care AT ALL about college baseball. I enjoy it, as I do other college sports, as well, but not very many do.

Notice that I didn't attack you, buckeye. I just disagree with you. You have already surpassed many of the other B10 fans I have come across this season.

I have noticed. That's what message boards are for, to "debate" opinions. I've been attacked by others many times on this site, though, and I really don't care, FWIW.

what is the general consensus in Ohio? Because I know yall are right in the middle of baseball, wrestling, lacrosse, and hockey country. Just wondering what more people support.

Otown, did you think it was possible for us to be sitting where we are now? I certainly did and almost expected it due to senior leadership. Gotta thank JB for not leaving the cubbard bare and thanks to the rest of the SEC for sucking so much arse up to this point. It's possible we'll be shown the door in the first round as it has happened to much better teams. I'd like to think we'll find ways to at least get us to the second weekend, but then again I'm a ranter and have been wrong before.

But OSU has certainly been an outstanding program during the BCS.

Yeah. People talk about the losses all the time, but at least we're good enough still to be in those positions. Just look at Michigan, ND, Nebraska, Tennessee... they've completely fallen off the map (well, Tenn might be back on it, thanks to their douche of a coach). People forget we're still .500 in BCS games. And while we did lose 2 NC's in a row, approx 117 teams would trade their season for ours in a heartbeat. And on a conference scale, 4 Big 10 Championships in a row (5 total under Tress), and 7-1 against scUM under Tress ain't too shabby, IMO.

And over the long haul has been one of the top programs in history.

Yeah, we've had a lot of past success that I'm proud of, and some really fine coaches (Paul Brown, Woody, Tress, etc). It's great. We have to keep moving forward, though. I don't want to turn into some of those teams I mentioned above.

There actually really isn't a clear "3rd sport", probably due to what you mentioned, we're in the middle of a lot of areas where different sports are most popular. The baseball team's usually pretty good for a Big 10 team, and gets solid support. The lax team made the Elite Eight last year, and had 30,000 at one game last year, but they played it right before the Spring Game in the Shoe, so many of the fans there got their early, to watch the Spring Game, but also to see some lacrosse (that only counts those who got to the stadium by halftime of the lax game, the actual Spring Game had something like 78,000). The hockey and wrestling teams are both usually solid, and get decent support.

We're really good at some other sports, too, but they don't get a whole lot of fan support. So, basically, yeah, there's not really a clear cut "3rd" sport.

Actually I didn't and am quite surprised. I'm trying to keep it in perspective though because I know this team still can't take anything for granted and tonight's game proved that, in my opinion.

I don't know. I think that from a national perspective when everything is averaged out Baseball is still going to the be the 3rd most popular college sport. No way Lacrosse or wrestling come even close.

I agree, but I guess my main point is that it's not like that everywhere. And even if you want to say that it is (which I'm fine with), it's easily a notch below football and b-ball.
