Do not care. I've seen with this team can do. They are allowed a off night during a midweek game.

LSU struggles against junk ball pitchers. Plus it looked like our batters were swinging for the fences every time up. It worked for Ibarra...but mostly it produced a bunch of pop ups.

The umpire had the biggest strike zone I've ever seen. But he was consistent for both teams.
He was calling anything from the shoulders down to mid-calf as a strike.
So the result was a pitcher did not have to throw a strike to get a strike called. J. Jones was called strike 3 on a pitch that was even with his armpits.
Grambling also only had 3 hits partly because of it.

LSU has always seemed to struggle against pitchers from the SWAC. Usually don't throw as hard as the competition in the SEC so it's hard for the guys to get their timing down. No worries here.
I don't buy this. It does not take long to adjust at all. It becomes like batting practice. Baseball is a tricky game and we could have just been sleep walking toward the weekend series.

Geezz with the mood in this thread you would think the football team was 7-0.
Post of the year!

i was there. we suck. can't hit curve balls, can't hit fast balls. We can however send a baseball 150 ft straight in the air...
one of those 3 its landed in the lf bleachers about 8 feet in front of me.danm kids didn't gimme a chance.

Baseball team 3 hits tonight?
They played tight. The players were too jacked up for the big game and came out swinging at everything and popped the ball up too much. I think the nerves of playing on a big stage like last night got to the team a little bit. Don't worry, they'll settle down and play with more confidence this weekend.

My god it's baseball....shut the f*ck up already....this happens during a 60+ game season

Paul Mainieri

“Quite frankly, the quality of their starting pitcher surprised us tonight,” Mainieri said. “That kid was good. He was throwing 88 to 91 miles per hour. He had a real good curveball that had downward trajectory. He’s real tall (6-foot-5) and his breaking ball was going straight down, so it was hard to pick it up.
quote:
“I’m as guilty as the players. I think it just caught us off-guard, and we just weren’t ready to compete against that caliber of a guy tonight. Fortunately, we went out there and pitched great.”

When you play arguably one of your worse games of the season from an offensive perspective and you still win 4-0, all I can say is...
We will take it and move on
We will take it and move on

Good thing Alan Dunn had the pitching ready because Javi sure didn't have the hitters prepared. Let's hope he has them ready for game 3 of a Super
