How did he look? First time in action at LSU.

Vietmeier looked a little rusty as would be expected. He left too many pitches high in the zone resulting in 6 balls hit to the outfield, 5 of which were caught. He was consistently around the plate though.

Is Bain gonna be hitting this spring? I see his stats show up in every thread like this. I know he played SS in high school but I think it’d be weird to have him hitting now when he probably hasn’t really hit or fielded since high school

I think he could play in a pinch as Strall did last season but, he is primarily a pitcher, IMO.

Josh Smith played the entire scrimmage at SS and moved well. I don't know what kept him out of the first two scrimmages.

What kind of work can we expect out of Moffit this year?

I remember him being signed but I know pretty much nothing about him. Hes a pretty long and lanky right? Flamethrower, junk baller. Are we going to rely on him at all?

Yes, he was on SS and we should be solid there. Slaughter told me last night they’re deciding to officially give him the shot at 3rd (he expects). Until he frigs it up.
Good practice/scrimmage. Young pitchers did good.
I too was curious when I saw Bain hitting. Can’t remember the AB but he didn’t look uncomfortable.

You got the long part right, he's around 6'4 but knocking on 240 so def not lanky. From what I've seen over the fall he is 84-87 with avg offspeed pitch. Not sure what his role will be this season, maybe mid week middle inning type guy?

Bain is only out there as a filler for scrimmage purposes. He will only play a position if we get multiple guys hurt and has to get in there bc there aren't any other options JMO

I saw Moffitt throw to only 5 batters (1b, 3 ground outs, fly out to RF) in his first appearance this spring and I didn't closely watch his pitches. That, along with not having a velocity reading on his fast ball leaves me short of having enough info to make a prediction for his usefulness to the team this year.
