15 ratings between the 3 starters...

one 80 (1/15); two 75s (2/15)...

Position Rating: 80

An outfield can be greater than the sum of its parts

If the scale truly is a college scale, I kind of agree.

I remember the year Laird had already gone 2 years without an error he couldn't crack 70 in the fielding. Also had some issues with his and Stevenson's speed, Laird's arm. That was a fun year in this thread.

You still haven't read my post from Friday clarifying the position overall grades?? It was something I posted just for you...

The overall position grade is LSU's compared to the rest of the country. I think LSU's outfield is the best in the country this year and why I gave them an 80.

The 2015 outfield had A TON of speed, could hit, and were great defensively but NO had no power. You're looking at my grade I made BEFORE the season and then asking why the overall grade wasn't higher? If I'm to be perfect on this preview which I do for fun what's the point.

Edit: I know you're just here to bitch a bit and that's fine but please keep it 2019 related that's all I ask.

It's your scale. You can mess with them how you want. My criticism (typically) is the inconsistency.

Players rated on a "college, all-time" scale.
Position group rated with a single number as whole.
Position group rated on a "college, single year" scale.
LSU player evaluations changing (or not changing) oddly from year to year and even from player to player.

I'll consider your request.

That's fine. I try to keep my numbers very conservative and not "overhype" if you will. Sometimes I do miss on players but that's why you're here to point out the 1 in 27 I may have missed.

You know as well as I that I could go copy some MLB ratings 20-80 chart from a paysite and 80% of the players would be below average. Alot of people don't understand that or know why, I'm trying to spread info about the team as it relates to the college season. It's a fine line trying to scale things and I understand where you are coming from.

Agree with all the position choices here except 1st base. I think CPM goes with Bianco over there to start the season. He loves to have "athletic" middle infield types all over the diamond and 1st is no exception(Jake Slaughter as a Fr). Beloso can flat rake and I think he gets some shots early esp at the DH spot but I think 1st base is Bianco's opening night and for as long as he can hold it down.

Also CJ Willis appears to be struggling at the plate, looks like he's around 4-16 with 10ks for the pre-season according to Scuba's stat line. OUCH

I can't argue with that. I think all three of the freshmen (Beloso, Willis, and Bianco) will get chances and whoever wants it will take it.

1st base, at least early on, is probably going to be a bit of a 'du jour' position. Seems the spot that they'll test guys out at along with DH. By SEC play it may be a platoon type thing or maybe even locked down by a single player, but I wouldn't be too surprised to see 3 or 4 guys play there over the first five games.
