Absolutely, I’m not going to post last years due to confusing people but I’ll go over Papierski’s pre season grade from last year

Power------55
Hitting------55
Speed------45
Fielding----65
Arm---------70

FINAL GRADE: 60

Power I knew would come around eventually, he actually exceeded expectations based on the final stats. I would change that to a 60. Hitting I would keep the same, speed you could argue between a 40 to 45 but he was always a station to station runner. Fielding and arm I would stay put, he was everything that LSU needed and then some. Some could argue his glove was a 70 he was that good at times.

Mathis sounds great, Project do you have any info on C Garza?

Here is a profile that was done on him around the time of the draft: LINK

Drafted by the Cardinals. His bat plays like a guy that would DH or play 1st when not behind the plate.

His season begins next week in the San Jacinto Tournament of Champions. All 3 LSU JUCO commits will be playing in the tournament. He will not be the full time catcher for Howard as their other guy is committed to Texas Tech.

I've noticed that's pretty common for some of the high level JUCO teams this year, having multiple catchers committed to D1 schools.

This is will change next year, IMO. We've got two guys committed at Catcher for next year that are at least 6'3" but with bats and athleticism to play 1B. Garza and Willis. Willis is a high draft risk though. Garza is a draft risk as well.

We also have a L/L 1B/OF guy in Cade Beloso coming in. He's 6'0", but at least right now appears to be headed to LSU vs the draft. He's currently scheduled to play for the Lima Locos in the Great Lakes Collegiate league ahead of his freshman year.

His John Curtis team will also be playing in the NHSI at the end of March which will be streamed live on MLB.com and other sites. Many other LSU commits will be playing in that tournament as well.

He may eventually be able to move to that spot but Mainieri was quoted during media days last Friday saying he wants Storz focusing just on pitching right now.

He just wants someone at eye level when he walks out to the mound...my serious answer is he’s trying to get the best 9 bats in the lineup. I think he’s hoping either Beau or Webre can stay put long term DH wise. If not we’ll see multiple shifts and Bryce moving back to DH.

Anything can happen in the infield, the good news is LSU has the athletes to play almost anywhere aka Smith, Slaughter, and Hughes.

That's for the overall group. Including Slaughter and Webre.

Slaughter alone gets it from a 20 to 45.

ETA: On a 20/80 scale, a slow guy with hip problems and a slow guy with knee problems should each be about a 15.

Holy crap. Brandt looks so much like his old man.

Fyi, Brandt Sr was starting 2b for the first LSU CWS squad

I know y’all most likely answered this but is Storz no longer going to be a position player? I didn’t see him anywhere on the 1B depth chart

Full time pitcher now?
