I give Mainieri a lot more credit on things now than I used to. A lot of that has to do with things I've noticed that he does that line up with newer baseball thinking backed up by research and analysis. He doesn't talk about it, but you can tell he's not a stuck-in-his-ways Joe Morgan anti-SABR guy.

I mentioned a few pages ago how progressive he's been with the coaching staff and using the quirky NCAA rules to expand it as much as possible.

And one of my biggest gripes used to be with the scheduling, but man these last few years have been pretty damn good.

Paul seems to get the most out of his teams late in the season.

We've had our share of postseason choke jobs sure but how many ridiculous runs have we went on late to grab a national seed?

We might bitch about his tinkering or losing a couple midweek games but there is a method to his madness and it works

well can you agree the hate last year was over the top as well? Only reason I was doing it because every fricking thread was about how paul was a dipshit.

Agreed project. Im big on using advanced stats as well. He has definitely progressed.

The schedule was another thing i always hated on him about too, and that does seem to have changed some in a positive direction. The only real significant thing i have left are the crazy amount of hit and runs/bunts in the 1st inning

I agree. Its baseball. It happens. What doesnt happen regularly is teams going on the kind of runs LSU seems to regularly go on when it means the most.

I think the guy is the best coach on campus

At LSU. I said he was the best coach on campus not in the world lol

Chuck Winstead is the golf coach? Correct?

I dont follow golf at all but judging by what I do know the guy seems legit.

Im not saying that Paul is the end all be all best coach at LSU. Im saying based on the sports that I can form an educated opinion on he is the best at LSU. Im always welcome to being proven wrong.

Anyone wanna take a shot at the top 3 sleepers this year? They can’t be in the starting 9 or weekend rotation
