You think this was a good portal class

“Good” is always relative to what’s available and what you have to replace. Considering what was available and LSU was still playing 3 weeks into what is a 4 week portal window, I think they did good for what their circumstances were.

Unfortunately players transfer out based on playing time scenarios of years past, cause you’d probably like to have a few of those guys, looking back.

and make a run this year?

Yes; the team will improve like the 24’ team and will give someone shite at the end of the year, I reckon. The home series next weekend will tell us a lot about the pulse of the team

huge mistake also when they are knocking the cover off the ball early on?
I get it but if you think lsu is out put is judged against that easy schedule and lvl of pitching , youll be sadly surprised as the sec season goes on. The hitting preseason against most of those teams were terrible teams. We lost a series to a team coming in that was 3-10, at home. Smh

About the talent evaluation. You can never really tell until its either too late or thank God. I believe it should be based on actual comp and you have to forcefully say no when the player looks good but he looked good against teams that arent good versus how did he fair against the 6/7 teams that were legit. Jmo. Cjj is a stats person and he was spot on Last year not too mention his already transfers from season before(24) like Brazzie(defense). This season we all expected and thought oh yeah Jay got this. You can clearly see a huge drop off. The little things about baseball several of these transfers are exhibiting, look like kids that need to be redshirted like a freshman would be. Jmo again but the resident orgy members here will come to tell me im stupid of course but yet we are now 0-2 in sec play, lost a series to a 3-10 team at home and lost to 2 in state teams already. We all wish it would change. When a team doesnt have it, nothing will change short of a miracle. Last year's team hit for shite alot of the way thru the sec. I for one didnt think our hitting would come back, it did. The potential to do so was there. The potential imo for this year's players to do so isnt.

point well made so much question is why didnt these players who may have been really good wait it out for lsu to finish? Were there any talks about potentials while lsu was still playing?

Well, for players like Mikey Ryan and Ashton Larson, they had no direct playing time to their traditional positions.

Costello likely had the clearest path, but there is some validity that the staff had a special preference to John Pearson, so it could easily have been a perceived roadblock in Costello’s eyes.

There no real white & black answer. Every coach deals with this and Jay Johnson over the last 5 years has proven to be the best at it, despite a ton of moving parts:

One question, wasn’t this portal class ranked relatively high? If so a hell of a lot of people over estimated their value. Sometimes things just don’t work out. I’m dang sure not happy about things right now, but good grief, dude has won 2 national championships in 4 years!

You also thought a championship team was not good either. So not sure anyone really cares what you think

I said we would lose in Sr, I was wrong but okay, fair shake. We will see in a couple weeks where this team is going. I've only mentioned what "team has shown" since the start of the season. It has nothing to do with me. This season's transfers are not even close to the pace of the other seasons for Jay. Player Evans have not shown anything relative to what theirnevals showed for their other schools.

Playing for the championship put LSU at a disadvantage in recruiting the portal.

This is no excuse. If Lane can put in 16 hour days, Jay can make some phone calls between postseason games. And he let 3 very talented guys walk. Jay was shortsighted and it’s gonna cost him for at least 2 years.

Let’s run it down:

quote:

Are you under the impression that Johnson didn’t recruit at all until the season was over? Thats what you’re saying, and it’s dumb.

quote:

And he let 3 very talented guys walk.

He didn’t “let them walk”. They chose to transfer, so this is also dumb.

quote:

Jay was shortsighted and it’s gonna cost him for at least 2 years.

He brought in another top recruiting class, it just hasn’t panned out so far. So, this is the dumbest point yet.

Summary: everything you posted was dumb. Good work.
