Yeah these announcers clearly don't understand the rule. They keep saying he's blocking the plate without the ball but the ball gets there before the runner. Do they want the catcher to catch the ball then go to the plate to get the runner?

Rules they say? Pap had the ball before the runner reached were he was. It was the runner who went out of the way to avoid the tag. I don't think you can block the plate without the ball.
